Our employees are not only part of history, they’re making history.Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Northridge, CA is currently seeking a Consulting Engineer Research and Development and Technical Lead for Anti-Radiation Homing (ARH) and other passive radar systems.In this role, the selected candidate will be responsible for initiating, designing, developing, executing and implementing scientific research for and technical lead for Anti-Radiation Homing (ARH) and other passive radar systems.

Critically develop, review, implement and test new signal processing and image processing techniques and algorithms.

Develops theories for ARH signal processing algorithms and hardware into potential new products or inventions.

May participate in intellectual property evaluations and development of patent applications.

May coordinate interdepartmental activities and research efforts.Relocation assistance, while not guaranteed, may be available.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement technical solutions to ARH system problemsGrow into position as ARH technical lead / representativeInteract with other ARH experts and senior engineersHelp coordinate issue resolution between various engineering disciplinesAnalyze ARH data, evaluate ARH performance and support ARH flight data analysisIdentify ARH signal processing algorithm and hardware issues as they ariseHelp troubleshoot and diagnose ARH production issues at subsystem and RF processor levelsImprove production ARH subsystem tests and proceduresGrow into signal and image processing algorithm design subject matter expert (SME)Grow into advanced direction-finding techniques subject matter expert (SME)Ability to determine causes of ARH system issues, both software and hardware, as well as provide solutionsIndependently determines and develops technical objectives of assignmentsInnovative problem solvingWorks with minimal directionBasic Qualifications:BS Engineering or Physics degree and at least 20 years’ experience; or an MS Engineering orPhysics degree and at least 18 years’ experience; or PhD in Engineering or Physics and at least 15 years’ experienceExcellent understanding of radar or RF systems and their algorithmsIn-depth understanding and application of radar technical expertiseGood understanding of detector theory and detection algorithmsSkills in programming: Matlab/Python requiredAbility to obtain DoD Secret level security clearancePreferred Qualifications:Radar-related industry experience preferredDoD contractor experience preferredKnowledge of Software-Defined Radio (SDR) and Electronic Protection(EP)/Electronic Warfare(EW) preferredGood understanding of advanced direction-finding techniques preferredGood understanding of Automatic Target Recognition techniques preferredActive secret security clearance preferredSalary Range: 188300 282500Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.

Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
