Overview
AmTrust North America, Inc. is seeking a full-time Legal Clerk for its Staff Counsel office located in West Hills, CA. This position will support the Workers’ Compensation litigation teams.
Responsibilities
- Retrieve, open, index, date stamp, and scan incoming mail
- Monitor, distribute and upload office faxes and email mailbox communication
- Upload digital files to document management platform including
- Download files received via CD/USB
- Distribute mail to proper teams via email and hard copy distribution if necessary
- Maintain 30-day hard copy storage and shredding protocol
- Maintain hard copy legal files in proper order according to jurisdictional requirements
- Process outbound USPS / FedEx mail
- Create digital and hard copy files for all new lawsuits according to jurisdictional requirements
- Assemble and download designated documents to CD’s for distribution
- New matter set up in document management platform (data entry, conflict checks)
- Send closed files to storage
- Collaborate with staff, vendors, visitors in a professional and courteous manner
- Manage multiple priorities in a deadline-oriented setting
- May also have additional duties to cover office phones, greet guests/vendors
- Maintain office equipment (supplies, postage, service)
Qualifications
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Prior work-related experience
- Ability to lift heavy boxes, files, and paper (50 lbs.)
- Operate mailing, copy, and fax equipment
- Handle time-sensitive material
- Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet manner
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and multi-tasking is required
