Responsibilities
Our laboratory focuses on understanding the molecular basis of gynecologic epithelial cancer formation, progression and treatment.
In particular, we are investigating the identity of epithelial ovarian cancer stem cells and molecular pathways in these cells that could
be targeted therapeutically. We are also interested in the role of genetic changes in the stroma and epithelium in endometriosis and
endometrial cancer progression.
In collaboration with Principal Investigator, you will be expected to perform research projects (molecular, biochemical and
cellular) related to understanding the molecular, immunologic and genetic events involved in the formation and progression of
gynecologic diseases. Knowledge gained from this research is then used to design and test strategies for cancer treatment and will
move to clinical trials. This work requires experience in cell biology, molecular biology, and involves the use of human samples and
animal models. Responsibilities will include:
- preparation of data management forms per protocol
- tissue and cell culture work
- preparation of RNA, DNA, protein and viruses
- PCR, western blot and immunohistochemistry
- overseeing laboratory operations and equipment maintenance
- ordering materials and preparation of data and manuscripts for publication.
