Global Head of Retail Research
RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary role of the Sr. Director of Retail Research is to ensure that CBRE is the preeminent global thought leader in retail real estate. The ideal candidate will seek opportunities to participate in client meetings, be visible to the real estate community and seek external speaking opportunities, as well as promote the CBRE Research product to the media in partnership with the CBRE Retail Communications leadership. This role is responsible for spearheading the production of retail market analysis and timely white papers addressing market trends. A second priority area is to ensure that the Research department is strategically aligned with the objectives of the Retail line of business within CBRE, both in the Americas and globally. This role is responsible for proactively connecting with the service lines to lead discussions and generate ideas for the constant improvement of research-related, client facing materials focusing on the retail perspective. Thirdly, the global head of retail will report to and work closely with the Global Head of Investor Thought leadership in managing and leading the broader global Research community within CBRE. The role will suit someone with the ability and ambition to move from an established national to an international profile.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead team Retail researchers that focus on national and global data capture, reports and trends affecting Retail real estate in the US and globally
Partner with Retail research leads in APAC and EMEA to ensure regional content is aligned with global strategy
Partner with Retail business leaders within CBRE and the industry
Develop innovative points of view for Retail and incorporate findings into retail presentations and white papers
Develop deep relationships with key Retail clients about market conditions and present at conferences about the state of the Retail market, both in the US and globally
Evaluate processes and tools for developing advanced information and analytics approaches as a key driver of differentiation. Be part of CBRE’s evolving digital strategy
Develop Retail benchmarks; efficiencies, square feet per revenue, etc.
Evaluate opportunities to extract customer relevant insights from existing data
Work collaboratively with other members of the CBRE research team on joint projects where appropriate
QUALIFICATIONS World-class presentation skills Strong leadership skills and influencing skills Solid understanding of the commercial real estate business, particularly Retail Prior experience in a Research related function is highly preferred Knowledge of data management and analytics Excellent decision-making skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills Strong ability to work well under pressure, with multiple/competing deadlines, on various projects Effective working in a team environment and as an individual Expert in use of windows applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint A post graduate degree would be preferred
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
BA/BS from a four-year college or university in economics, finance, business administration or related field of study. Masters preferred. Minimum 10+ years of related experience.
Minimum 8 years of commercial real estate experience. Extensive local market/sector knowledge/experience required. Experience managing a team across multiple locations required.
