Arena Capital Advisors, LLC, a Los Angeles-based asset manager that manages over $3.5b in client assets across high yield, leveraged loans, special purpose acquisition companies and private investment in public equities and opportunistic strategies, is seeking an experienced Credit Research Analyst.
The analyst would cover High Yield and Leveraged Loan markets and responsibilities may include other areas including SPACs, PIPEs, etc.
depending on market opportunity.
Under the direction of the Head of Research, the role analyzes various industries and the companies within them to make investment recommendations to Arena’s portfolio management team.
The role also provides analytical support for the firm’s portfolio managers by highlighting risks and making investment recommendations on specific companies.
Essential Responsibilities
Provide fundamental and relative value research on existing holdings and generate credit driven investment ideas specific to the sector.
Sector agnostic Ability to contribute to first-hand corporate analysis, including financial modeling and relative value analysis.
Demonstrated ability to make judgements regarding credit, risk, and valuation.
Proactively communicate investment ideas by initiating discussions with portfolio managers and participating in regular and ad hoc group meetings.
Produce written reports such as company evaluations and quarterly updates, relative value analyses, and industry reviews.
Respond to portfolio manager inquiries regarding credit concerns, market overviews, and sector changes
Position Requirements
Must have minimum of 4 years financial services work experience.
Bachelor’s degree from a prestigious university or college with demonstrated strong academic performance and relevant coursework Exceptional financial modeling experience required Prerequisite expertise in math/finance, accounting, corporate finance, economics and strong computer skills, particularly Excel

Self-starter with ability and drive to cover their industry with minimal direction and to make preliminary decisions in a short time frame with incomplete information Proactive in generating successful investment ideas.
Ability to take the lead in advocating investment ideas to portfolio managers rather than relying on external direction.
Strong communications skills, both written and oral, required.
Need to be persuasive and credible with presentation skills anchored in thorough analysis.

Desired Qualifications
Prior credit research experience preferred Completed MBA degree or CFA, in addition to relevant investment experience
