The Smidt HeartInstitute is in search for a Research Postdoctoral Scientist who will lead andassist with data management, analysis, and interpretation for Dr.

Susan Cheng”sresearch projects.

The position will help prepare original research manuscriptsand grant proposals.

The Research Postdoctoral Scientist will develop, adapt,and implement new research techniques and protocols.

As well as performroutine and complex laboratory procedures throughout training period.The way we do biomedicalscience is changing.

Given that we can now measure millions of variables perexperiment, the next set of great discoveries will be made by researchers whocan efficiently sift through large volumes of data and rigorously gleanelemental truths.

While methods in science are shifting, the fundamentalquestions remain the same.

Therefore, our research collaborative is seekingextremely motivated team members who are clinically oriented and skilled atconducting conventional and advanced statistical analyses of high-dimensionaldatasets to address clear and relevant questions.

In addition to a biomedicalunderstanding of age-related diseases, we are interested in candidates withexperience in critically appraising data analysis approaches.

Ourinter-institutional collaborative applies high-throughput molecular andimage-based phenotyping methods in population cohorts to identify key driversof the balance between healthy aging and the risk for age-related diseases.

Ourteam includes clinicians, biostatisticians, bioinformaticians, epidemiologists,imaging specialists, mass spectrometrists, analytical chemists, and basicbiologists all collectively focused on making discoveries that willprofoundly impact human health.Interested candidates should ideally have expertise in analyzinghigh-dimensional data including conducting predictive models in large clinicaldatasets with prospectively adjudicated outcomes.

The successful candidate willwork closely with a team of scientists to develop, test, and validate dataanalysis methods intended to discover and confirm biomarker relations withdisease outcomes.

All applicants should have exceptional written and oralcommunication skills, as well as a strong publication history.

The idealcandidate is committed to pursuing a career in academia and will be able to leverageour extremely strong track record in mentoring early career investigatorstowards successfully obtaining independent federal grant funding and academicfaculty positions.All candidates should be highly self-motivated, enthusiastic, and have a desireto work as part of a dynamic and diverse collaborative team in a start-up likeenvironment.

Candidates will also be willing to travel between bi-coastalcollaborative laboratories as needed.

Works independently with supervision and consultation from the Principal Investigator and other research scientists.Leads and assists with data management, analysis, and interpretation for a number of research projects.Leads and contributes to the all aspects of a number of research projects, including the preparation of original research manuscripts for publication in high-impact journals.Develops, adapts, and implements new research techniques and protocols.Assists with and trains in the preparation of grant proposals (while not being responsible for the generating grant funds).Candidate must be highly organized and have precise attention to detail.Excellent English oral and written communication skills are required.Candidate must be able to multitask and assign priorities in a busy, start-up like environment.Excellent interpersonal skills are required for working with a dynamic team.Ability to demonstrate professionalism and respect for subjects rights and individual needs.#Jobs-GlassdoorEducational Requirements: Doctorate (MD, PhD, VMD, or DDS) in area directly related to field of research specialization.Experience: Works independently on research projects designed by a mentor (typically the PI) within area of specialization.

Acquires thorough technical and theoretical knowledge of research project and objectives during one to five (1-5) year post-doctoral appointment.

Demonstrated aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection, and analysis and operation and maintenance of specialized equipment.Knowledge of safety standards and maintenance of specialized equipment.Strong track record of high impact publications.Experience using R, STATA, and/or SAS for analyzingdatasets.Direct experience analyzing large sized,high-dimensional datasets would be highly valued.Experience with Python and working in Linuxenvironments would be Jobble
