VP / Controller, Consensus (Cloud Fax)

COMPANY is looking for a VP/Controller for it’s announced spin off, publicly traded company Consensus. The successful candidate will be a seasoned professional with experience strategically guiding financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and applying policies, procedures and financial activities of our $300mm+ in revenue and growing company. You are an experienced Controller with ability to work on a global scale. You’ll need to be entrepreneurial and opportunistic, with the ability to motivate and develop your team. This role is located in our Los Angeles office. 

This Controller provides executive-level counsel on management decisions by directing the organization’s accounting functions and by developing, monitoring, and reporting our financial results.  Reporting to the CFO, Consensus this dynamic person is responsible for organizing, directing, and controlling the work of the accounting personnel in collecting, summarizing, and interpreting financial data.

Also, the controller position is responsible for providing timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis ensuring financial integrity/accuracy and internal controls. The Controller drives the reporting process including monthly reporting to management and the Board of Directors, financial analysis, cash management, and the timely and successful completion of the Company’s annual audit.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for accounting close cycle including quarter end reviews, year-end audit and statutory reporting.
  • Manages the organization’s risk by establishing credit policies; developing and managing credit procedures; establishing, auditing, and enforcing internal controls; directing external audits.
  • Identifies opportunities for the organization to improve its financial and competitive position by monitoring industry changes, analyzing expansion, consolidation, or divestment opportunities.
  • Ensures positive relationships with creditors and employees by establishing and supervising the management of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable departments.
  • Functions as the liaison between the organization and financial institutions.
  • Ensures compliance with public corporation regulatory filings and participates in the preparation of the organization’s annual report. Direct the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, audit schedules and supporting documentation for external auditor review.
  • Hire, train and mentor/develop accounting staff through talent acquisition, mentoring and development activities.
  • Manage the accounting system, re-engineering and integration of accounting processes
  • Review, assess and update internal controls and policies as necessary
  • Perform investment management duties including maintaining relationships with bank officers, investment advisers and ensuring proper valuation and financial statement presentation

Job Requirements and Experience:

  • CPA required, active license
  • 10+ years’ experience in accounting with a public multi-national company.
  • 5 + years’ experience as Controller or Assistant Controller.
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of US GAAP accounting.
  • Staff management required
  • SOX compliance
  • Process improvement and automation (similar to system migration)  (Oracle and/or Oracle Fusion experience is a PLUS)
  • M&A related activities including due diligence, supporting purchase accounting, and post-acquisition integration
  • Effectively manage a shared service center that supports multiple Business Units
  • Technical accounting, including ASC 606 Rev Recognition, ASC 842 Leases and ASC 350-40 Internally developed software
  • Public company experience (a plus)
  • Hands-on skills in general accounting, account analysis and reconciliation, financial reporting.
  • Experience working in a multi-currency, multi-national global organization
  • Experience reviewing, analyzing and implementing financial systems.
  • Proficient technology skills, including MS Office Suite, Excel, Oracle Financials
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
