Atkins has the depth and breadth of expertise to respond to the most technically challenging and time-critical infrastructure projects and the urgent transition to a low-carbon economy.How will you contribute to the team?Defines scope of project, with full responsibility for interpreting, organizing and executing project assignmentsSelects problems for investigation, developing novel approaches and solutions to technical problemsConducts quality control checks, reviewing calculations, designs, evaluations and specifications developed by design staff for accuracy and completeness, performing on-site inspections and reviews, and conducting or overseeing remedial design workKeeps abreast of state-of-the-art methods and developments in area of specializationRecommends changes or improvements to plans and programs.May function as the project manager for routine to semi-complex projects. Responsibilities may include marketing, negotiating contracts, budgeting, financial management, schedule coordination and resources allocationPerforms such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessaryAs the systems engineering professional head, you will:Lead the systems engineering team in a matrix organizationDevelop and implement systems engineering best practices across the rail and transit teamProvide career mentorship and guidance to junior personnelPlan and coordinate systems engineering resource needs with the business unitConduct performance reviews with systems engineering team membersAs a senior systems engineer on project work, you will:Serve as senior technical reviewer for systems engineering document submittalsProvide expert oversight to clients to ensure successful projectsAnalyze systems for conformance to various national and local standards and requirements (FRA, FTA, IEEE, ISO, etc.)Manage contractor submittals for timeliness and technical accuracyEnsure all schedule and budgetary goals are met or exceededSystems integration lead for design, construction and commissioningUphold configuration management practices and ensure all changes are performed in a controlled mannerPrepare engineering documentation, including plans, interface control documents, specifications, calculations and design services during construction to support various transit projectsCoordinate with other team members, clients and contractors to determine requirements and produce optimal solutions.Conduct site inspections and supervise implementation, configuration, testing and commissioning activities.Provide support to clients to ensure the design and implementation of the systems meets code and criteria.What will you contribute?B.S. or M.S. in Electrical, Communications, Electronics or Information Systems Engineering. M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred.
