JOB SUMMARY
Systems Engineers coordinate different teams, testing, and evaluations of products or systems development. They work with a project manager and engineering team and become the communication liaison to link several groups. Systems engineers also work through each process phase, from the initial plan to validation and implementation, and will focus on performance, testing, scheduling, and budgets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Designing and implementing new network solutions and improving the efficiency of current networks.
- Installing, configuring, and supporting network equipment, including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS, and DHCP.
- Configuring firewalls, routing, and switching to maximize network efficiency and security. Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting. Arranging scheduled upgrades. Investigating faults in the network. Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases. Reporting network status to key stakeholders.
- Administer and maintain the company’s IT infrastructure, including servers, services, web applications, and databases, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security.
- User Support and Training: Provide end-user support for Systems-related inquiries, issues, and troubleshooting, ensuring prompt resolution and user satisfaction. Develop and deliver training materials and conduct training sessions to educate users on Systems features and best practices.
- Manage user access, permissions, and security settings, ensuring proper authentication, authorization, and data integrity.
- Implement and enforce governance policies, guidelines, and compliance standards, ensuring data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements adherence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate systems, applications, and platforms, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability.
- Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies, ensuring data protection and availability.
- Monitor system health, performance, and usage to proactively identify and resolve any issues. Optimize Systems performance through performance tuning, capacity planning, and implementing best practices.
- Supervise a project’s systems engineering events as performed by the technical team.
- Monitor, organize, and manage a project’s tasks.
- Assess and calculate the technical features of a project plan to ensure that the systems engineering procedures are operating correctly.
- Implement and maintain the computer systems to comply with the organization’s guidelines or SOP and prepare and document SOPs and protocols.
- Monitor and manage all installed systems and infrastructure.
- Establish, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
- Evaluate existing systems and provide technical direction to IT support staff.
- Oversee the development of customized software and hardware requirements.
- Plan and implement systems automation as required for better efficiency.
- Formulate and design the security system to maintain data safety.
- Focus on workflows, optimization methods, and risk management tools for given projects.
- Responsible for user administration, monitoring of servers, and monitoring antivirus updates. Perform daily checks on servers and analyze logs. Conduct performance tuning of servers. Conduct incident investigation. Conduct detailed troubleshooting of incidents and upgradation and provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems. Resolve well-defined incidents using documented procedures. Review change requests, execute difficult changes, and prepare and execute changes per implementation plans. Perform root cause analysis for servers/systems crashes.
- Maintain and supervise inventory. Ensure a rapid response to any technical issues.
- A chief systems engineer confirms that the system strictly achieves a project’s requirements and that a proper systems engineering method is being practiced.
- Engineer, implement, and monitor security measures to protect computer systems, networks, and information.
- Identify and define system security requirements.
- Design computer security architecture and develop detailed cyber-security designs.
- Configure and troubleshoot security infrastructure devices.
- Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks.
- Ensure that the company knows as much as possible about security incidents as quickly as possible.

- Deskside support who will take repair requests and respond to queries in person, via email, phone, or live chat.
- Offering technical assistance with the delivery, configuration, set up, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computer systems, hardware, and software.
- Diagnostics of malfunctioning Apple and Windows hardware and software.
- Performs installs, moves, adds, and changes as required. Tests and certifies PCs, networks, servers, and client-approved applications. Provides follow-up on problems or escalation. Maintains a high degree of professionalism in actions.
- Install and configure computers, telephones, and other standard technology/devices for new and existing Impulse employees.
- Provide tier 1/2/3 support services to end-users who require assistance with their information technology resources.
- Assist with cybersecurity initiatives by helping implement and operate various cybersecurity tools.
- Provide after-hours or weekend support when necessary to perform high-risk or planned downtime of IT systems for upgrades and maintenance.
- Training computer users. Training other staff in troubleshooting and diagnosing problems.
- Gaining feedback from customers to improve training methods.
- Running reports and analyzing common complaints and problems.
- Manage inventory procedures for incoming hardware and retirement of old equipment.
- On any given day, perform on-site or remote servicing, maintaining, analyzing, troubleshooting, and repairing hardware and computer systems.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Computer Software/computer systems engineering. Computer systems and networks, Electrical/electronic engineering, Mathematics, Network security management, or Physics.
An analytical mind, the ability to learn new technologies quickly, good time management skills, the ability to follow processes, strong documentation skills, good written and verbal communication skills, and commercial and business awareness.
Proven work experience as a System Security Engineer or Information Security Engineer. Experience in building and maintaining security systems. Detailed technical knowledge of database and operating system security. Hands-on experience in security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, and content filtering. Experience with network security and networking technologies and system, security, and network monitoring tools.
Performance tuning of application stacks (e.g., Tomcat, JBoss, Apache, Ruby, NGINX). Cloud experience, especially in Azure, and good knowledge of GCP and AWS. Experience with virtualization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box). Network experience (e.g., TCP/IP).
COMPUTER & SOFTWARE SKILLS:
Must be an advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with Excel. Must have foundational computer skills and be adept at using the internet.
