The qualified individual will be a self-starter, highly organized, comfortable working with Cisco ASA including SSL VPN, with a strong emphasis on GCP, AWS, and Meraki platforms, and has a strong drive for quality. The rate per hour for this role is between $65 – $70.

JOB DESCRIPTION
As the Senior Network Engineer, you will engineer, design, install, manage, monitor, and provide ongoing support for the client’s network infrastructure. Additionally, you will be counted on to provide advanced guidance, analysis, and direction. You will be working on implementations, providing maintenance, and supporting LAN/WAN services – including wireless networks, firewalls, and security devices both with a physical or cloud presence.
Responsibilities
- Lead the evaluation, design, configuration, and implementation of Cisco routers, switches, and Firewalls.
- Lead the evaluation, design, SDWAN, configurations, and implementation of network security services including firewalls, VPN systems, IDP systems, and NAC systems.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd-level troubleshooting for all routing and switching platforms utilizing network analysis tools, as required.
- Support network design and operation for VMware, AWS, and GCP cloud environments.
- Lead the development and implementation of processes and tools to proactively monitor all network infrastructure services to ensure adequate capacity planning, performance, and high availability.
- Assist regional campus IT staff in installing networking services at new locations and implementing best practices and designs.
- Develop, update, and audit network infrastructure documentation, including network diagrams.
- Provide technical project management for infrastructure projects.
- Communicate with vendors to obtain system configurations, quoting, and support.
- Occasionally travel to a variety of locations.
- Report weekly on work activity to the Manager of Network Engineering.
- Completes other projects and duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements
- BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Networking, or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience designing, engineering, implementing, and supporting complex, multi-site, multi-national, multi-vendor networks.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience with Cisco routers and switches.
- Minimum two (2) years experience with Cisco ASA, and Firepower firewalls.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience with Wireless technologies such as Cisco, and Meraki platforms.
- Minimum two (2) years experience with GCP or AWS.
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of the OSI model.
- Strong understanding of Cisco networking and switching technologies including TCP/IP, routing protocols, multicast, MPLS, WAN, and VPN services.
- Strong understanding of QoS to support a variety of mission-critical applications.
- Experience utilizing protocol analyzers and sniffers to troubleshoot network and application issues, configuration, and design of networks.
- Cisco ASA including SSL VPN services and IPsec Tunnels.
- MS Visio for the creation and maintenance of network diagrams.
- Change management processes.
- Load balancers are strongly desired, but not required.
- Enterprise LAN/WAN monitoring and management solutions (NMS) are strongly desired.
- Previous experience working with higher education institutions is desired, but not required.
- Understanding and experience with ITIL/SDLC methodologies is strongly desired, but not required.
- Experience with GCP (Google Cloud Protocol) is a must.
- Cisco certifications are strongly desired, but not required.
- Proven ability to communicate professionally in a corporate environment.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work individually and within a team.
- Experience setting up site-to-site BPM is a huge plus.
