About the role

Imperva’s Infrastructure and Cloud team is looking for a highly technical Network Engineer to drive innovation, scale, and operational excellence for the Imperva globally distributed CDN. As the Network Engineer, you are responsible for planning, configuration, management, and support of the hardware and software of the network. You will work to improve the overall availability, reliability, performance, security, and scale of the network for Imperva’s customers.

Responsibilities

  • Define strategies, roadmap, and architectures for evolving & scaling network technologies to meet business needs in a flexible and agile manner
  • Collaborate with business and product development teams to design and implement the automation & infrastructure required to support their vision and strategy programmatically
  • Infrastructure as Code principles
  • R&D, proof of concept, lab testing/benchmarking, vendor/technology evaluations
  • Deep understanding of network hardware and software scale and limitations, chipset feature/functionality
  • Ownership mindset of network deliverables of scale, performance, and availability
  • Mentorship and guiding team members
  • Escalations, incident response, RCA, and postmortems
  • Participate in 24×7 on-call rotation

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional experience within a cloud/web/CDN scale infrastructure
  • Experience with large scale global/service provider network environments
  • Expert knowledge in routing (BGP/ISIS/MPLS), switching, optical, & firewalls
  • Expert knowledge of network protocols (TCP/UDP, HTTP, DNS) and experience with IPv4 and IPv6
  • Strong understanding of anycast routing
  • Experience with transit, peering policies, and capacity planning
  • Expert knowledge of Juniper and Arista hardware and software
  • Experience programming in any combination of Bash, Python, Go, C/C++, Rust
  • Experience with automation orchestration using Ansible/Saltstack
  • Strong knowledge of Linux systems and kernel routing
  • Experience writing detailed runbooks, MOPs, high/low-level design documents, topology diagrams, configuration
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Network certification (CCNP/JNCIP/CCIE/JNCIE) are a plus
  • BS/MS in computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience
