Learn more about how Edgecast is delivering the future of media atwww.edgecast.com.About the TeamThe Security Core team at EdgeCast is a group of talented engineers responsible for building the Edge Security products that protect customer applications on the EdgeCast Platform. Our CDN powers 8% of global Internet traffic and is used by billions of users every day. The team owns the development of the WAF and Rate Limiting engine, Bot Management, managed rules, customer facing APIs and analytics pipeline. We are working towards expanding our product portfolio with new solutions based on qualitative and quantitative analysis of the traffic passing through our network. This is a high growth team with many opportunities to utilize modern technologies to produce new and innovative solutions.About the PositionWe are looking for a motivated engineer who has a strong background working with high performance and data heavy applications. This person will play a pivotal role in the future development of Edge Security by training and serving machine learning models, generating insights, and utilizing data to enhance our WAF and associated features that we offer to customers. The person will also contribute to our custom ruleset by developing rules to protect against new threats. The engineer will design and implement security at scale to secure online applications and generate telemetry to enhance our ability to detect, analyze and prevent malicious activity across our global network.ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop new and existing CDN security products including web application firewalls, distributed layer 7 rate limiting, bot mitigation, and the associated infrastructure using languages such as C/C++, Go, and Python.Build automation tools for managing very large code deployments and data.Write clean, efficient and scalable code.Development and support for open source HTTP/Security applications and libraries.Serve as a source of knowledge within the security technology domain.Analyze network traffic via security events and develop new rules for mitigation.RequirementsBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related fieldAt least 4 years of experience and excellent understanding of: Machine learning techniques and algorithms for classification, clustering and prediction such as Neural Networks, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc. NLP, text analytics technologies.Common data science toolkits such as Python Data Science Libraries, R, etc. Excellence in Python is highly desirable. Ability to enhance the standard algorithms is highly expected.2+ years of experience in architecture and design of distributed systemsExperience working in Linux based environmentsStrong written & oral communication skillsKnowledge of security vulnerabilities, attack & exploitation techniquesPreferred QualificationsTechnical experience in networking or web application securityProven programming ability in one or more languages such as C/C++, Python, Go, Javascript, PerlProfessional experience developing in Python/Bash programming languagesProfessional experience developing customer facing configuration and dashboard API’s, especially for security productsKnowledge on big data technologies and pipelinesFamiliarity with ModSecurity.Yahoo is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
