Senior Associate IS Database Engineer Live What you will do Amgen is seeking a Sr Associate IS Database Engineer within the Global Infrastructure Services database team supporting Microsoft SQL database administration related activities while managing various toolsets for database administration, performance, reporting, and monitoring needs in a 24×7 regulated environment.
The incumbent will engineer and implement enterprise MSSQL database solutions that meet business requirements in line with defined strategies, compliance requirements, and fiscal guidelines.
The Senior Associate IS Engineer will report to the Senior Manager Information Systems based at our Capability Center in Tampa, FL.

The Global Infrastructure Services team is the global enterprise administration group that manages physical and virtual hosting including private and public cloud hosting options, operating systems, databases, middleware, storage, and backup.
The primary database platforms supported by this group are MSSQL and Oracle with a smaller footprint of MySQL & PostgreSQL.

Support the Service Owner working with full time employees and managed service provider contractors in the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of Amgen’s database service.
Ensure Amgen’s database service aligns with the key IS service principles which includes meeting business needs, cost effectiveness, scalability, compliance, reliability, and resilience Implement database automation solutions and enterprise-wide scripts using tools such as Ansible and SCCM.
Manage and administer Microsoft SQL Databases, and related services and monitoring systems.
Experience working with AWS Database appropriate technologies: RDS, EC2, EBS, S3 and Snapshots.
Provide technical project support for application databases including activities such as database deployments, upgrades, backup/recovery, and deploy high availability AAG.
Monitor security bulletins to obtain information of potential threats; analyze and lead necessary security patch implementations to ensure ongoing database system security.
Provide performance analysis and tune systems while utilizing software and hardware tools to identify, analyze, and diagnose complex problems and factors affecting performance.
Investigate and resolve server related technical issues providing rotational 24×7 On-Call Support at the SME level and assist/lead Root Cause Analysis reviews Accountable for audit and security compliance issues (Amgen and government regulations) related to MSSQL, MySQL and RDS Database platforms.
Basic Qualifications Doctorate degree Or Masters degree and 1 year of Information Systems and database experience Or Bachelors degree and 3 years of Information Systems and database experience Or Associates degree and 5 years of Information Systems and UNIX admin experience Or High school diploma/GED and 7 years of Information Systems and UNIX admin experience Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of DevOps principles, Site Reliability Engineering, Agile, GitOps and CICD Database Administration with automation experience using modern tools such as Ansible, Chef/Puppet, Jenkins and git.
Industry Certifications and experience with MSSQL and AAG.
Experience with one of leading cloud providers such as AWS, Azure or Google Strong understanding of Microsoft SQL databases and operating system tools for performance troubleshooting and tuning.
