The Boeing Company is looking for a Software Test Automation Engineer (Associate, Experienced and Senior) in one of our locations to include El Segundo, CA or Seal Beach, CA.

This position will support the Boeing Satellite Division. We are seeking a Test Automation Engineer that is passionate about space and excited to work in a multi-disciplined, collaborative engineering environment that supports the design, development, and implementation of command, control, networking, and communications software for a new fleet of Boeing satellites.

The ideal candidate will balance two areas of focus as required by the IPT, DevSecOps and Test automation. On the test automation side, the candidate will aid the software development team in creation and maintenance of a robust automated testing framework.  Once established the candidate will help build automated Unit and Integration tests as well as prepare and support execution of formal qualification testing efforts to sell off software requirements.

Additionally, this position will support the pipeline infrastructure that aids execution of full life-cycle software development.  The candidate will maintain multiple environments including dev, test and prod environments that meet the requirements of the program and will leverage their knowledge of DevSecOps to implement and improve a robust continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines; integrated with automated testing, and vulnerability & quality scanning capabilities.

A continuous improvement mindset is required at all times and the candidate will be encouraged to build automated processes wherever possible.  The candidate should possess excellent communications skills and work well in a team environment to support the needs of the program.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate, Experienced and Senior Level Software Engineers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintains test automation framework and trains developers and systems engineers in execution of the framework
  • Creates and maintains automated unit and integration tests and supports execution of formal testing events
  • Performing software tools and environment activities, including installation and configuration of an integrated software engineering environment based upon the DevSecOps framework
  • Designs and develops automation and integrated deployment processes and aids in software build and releases activities
  • Performs technical support for the program and assists in satisfaction of Application Security, IT, and customer security directives and requirements ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats
  • As required, manages software dependencies including evaluation, acquisition & licensing, integration, and maintenance for software used by developers to execute the program
  • As required, assists software teams and IT with server upgrades/patches, database support, and setup of virtual environments. Supports operating system, infrastructure, and platform hardening

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires Active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required).  (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree
  • Proficient with a variety of software development languages, tools and techniques
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) concepts and tools (Jenkins, JIRA, Gitlab, etc)
  • Experience with configuration management and deployment (Ansible, etc)
  • 1 or more years of experience with test automation
  • 1 or more years of experience with DevSecOps tools and techniques

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 or more years of experience with test automation for Level 3
  • 3 or more years of experience with DevSecOps tools and techniques for Level 3
  • 5 or more years of experience with test automation for Level 4
  • 5 or more years of experience with DevSecOps tools and techniques for Level 4
  • Experience with software containerization and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, etc)
  • Experience in build automation (Gradle)
  • Experience in the Agile software development environment
  • Maintains a Security+ or equivalent certification

Typical Education/Experience:

Associate (Level 2)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Experienced (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range:

Associate: $90,950 – $123,050

Experienced: $112,200 – $151,800

Senior: $130,900 – $177,100
