In Abbott’s Electrophysiology and Heart Failure (EPHF) division, we’re advancing the treatment of heart and vascular disease through breakthrough medical technologies in electrophysiology and heart failure, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.

As Medical Device Software Program Manager , your primary responsibility is to initially setup Software Project Management Framework for Medical Device Software Development which includes creating the operational processes and obtaining alignment with various stakeholders.

More importantly during the initial phase you will need to be a coach to the team to build bottom up schedules taking application interdependencies into consideration.

You will manage quarterly release planning, Project planning, backlog grooming, daily management, retrospective and demos.

You will need to ensure there is a sound definition of done for all activities and ensure they comply with medical development requirements.

You will be required to visit clinical environments to ensure you have a sound understanding of the clinical context.

Progressively you would need develop a robust understanding of the product functionality and clinical context so that you can help identify and manage risks.

This position will manage one or more multi-year projects developing new product software for Abbott’s Heart Failure business, including cardiac sensors, Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD), software applications, and tools.

Responsibilities: Manage the full software project life cycle activities to meet program objectives including scope, budget, and schedule.

Core responsibilities include: Project planning and contracting Budget planning Resource planning Requirements Planning Regular status updates Project financial metrics such as budget, COGS, and capital Creating and maintaining schedules Vendor Management Establish and maintain the Software Development Plan & Document Tree File.

Utilize agile project management framework, tools including related processes and techniques to effectively manage projects.

Setup the tool chain to enable effective implementation of the process.

Lead all aspects of release planning, backlog grooming (estimation) and daily management.

Ensures there is a clear concept of MVP (Minimum Viable Product) Create simple but highly effective dashboards to capture key metrics such as burndown, defect trends, backlog metrics and technical/process debt.

Progressively identify and eliminate waste and thereby lean out the process which may include leading value stream mapping sessions.

Ensures there is a robust DoD (Definition of Done) that matches our quality management system requirements.

Continuously monitors industry for best practices and drives a culture of engineering excellence.

This is a leadership role and you will be instrumental in building a passionate and highly motivated team that works with a great sense of urgency while taking full accountability for the outcome.

You will also ensure the team takes the time to reflect and more importantly celebrates the wins.

Maintain technical roadmap to support go-to-market strategy.

Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

Maintain a safe and professional work environment.

Comply with U.S.

Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering or Engineering discipline 5 years of experience leading projects in a medical device, biomedical or high technology industry 4 Years of Software Development Experience Fluency in MS office applications and MS Project Preferred Qualifications 3 years of experience directly managing technical staff Medical device industry experience Program/Project Management certifications Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model WHAT WE OFFER At Abbott, you can have a good job that can grow into a great career.
