The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Software Engineering Manager (level K) to join the Space and Launch Software Development & Integration located in El Segundo, CA. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

The Space and Launch team builds the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. We work with commercial, government and proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements, design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage staffing needs and grow the skills/capabilities of the organization
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders and partners
  • Manager will develop and motivate employees.
  • Manager must be adept in building working relationships with the engineering community
  • Manager will forecast, obtains and manages personnel to meet project and organizational requirements
  • Determines critical skills within an organization or functional area; develops and implements staffing plans to ensure necessary skills are available within the company

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret and SCI post start. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree.
  • 3+ years of experience leading or managing projects and/or teams
  • 2+ years of experience leading teams using Agile software development practices
  • Experience in team building, coaching, leading teams, motivating and engaging team members

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Holds an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance/(A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
  • Experience with Continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD)
  • Experience with satellite ground mission capabilities (command & control, orbital analysis, mission planning and/or mission management)
  • Experience at successfully managing and being part of a complex IPT to produce results within budget, on schedule, and to performance requirements

Typical Education/Experience:

  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 7 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience)
  • In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only.  Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range for Experienced:  $141,950.00 – $192,050.00

To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
