The Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) Mission Systems & Autonomy (MS&A) software capability is seeking an Mid-Level Software Engineer in El Segundo CA, Annapolis Junction MD, or Fairfax, VA or Huntington Beach CA. The position will involve creating software for world class, next generation disruptive systems and technologies. The selected candidate will work with the Disruptive Computing & Networks (DC&N) product team focused on the concept, requirements, architecture, design and development of a future system. Our software products help solve Boeing’s most challenging problems across Commercial Airplanes, Defense Space & Security, and Global Services businesses. Projects can range from new cyber security solutions for the revolutionary 787 Dreamliner to innovative aircraft, creating virtual avionics development test environments across several commercial, defense, satellite, and space platforms, satellite payload technologies, and autonomy.

Position Responsibilities:

Develops, documents and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.

Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system.

Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met.

Performs software project management and software supplier management functions.

Develops, selects, tailors and deploys software processes, tools and metrics. Executes and documents software research and development projects.

Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations.

Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.

Works under general direction.
This position requires the ability to obtain an active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required) and ability to complete a CI (Counter Intelligence) polygraph after employment start.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree

3+ years of experience designing and developing software for a real time or non-real-time system
-
Experience with the full software development lifecycle that includes requirements analysis through Formal Qualification.

Experience in software development using languages such as C, C++, Python, JavaScript.
-
Experience using team collaboration tools including Git, Bitbucket, JIRA, and Confluence.
-
Experience with Agile development methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

5+ years of experience designing and developing software for a real time or non-real-time system

Active Security Clearance

Experience automating software builds, unit tests, integration tests, deployment, and installations using a DevOps tool chain (Gitlab, Jenkins, Nexus, Artifactory, etc).
Typical Education/Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree and typically 5 or more years’ experience in an engineering classification or a Master’s degree with typically 3 or more years’ experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary Pay-Range
Experienced (Level 3) $93,000 – 165,000
