What youll do: Initially, this role will involve the critical work of scaling, optimizing, and maintaining our analytical pipeline and infrastructure, interfacing closely with biologists, computational biologists, product developers, and software engineers.
As our company rapidly scales, you will help recruit, lead, and mentor a team of mission-driven computer scientists and software engineers dedicated to advancing our mission of shifting the paradigm of disease diagnosis.
Help build and lead a team dedicated to scaling, optimizing, and maintaining our analytical pipeline in a CD/CI environment.
Lead code design reviews.
Apply best software engineering practices to the development of our analytical pipeline.
Work closely alongside scientists from a variety of backgrounds in an interdisciplinary team of biologists, clinicians and data scientists focused on biomarker discovery.
Present results clearly and cohesively to the broader team of scientists.
Be an intellectual leader and innovator who can both drive a project through your own efforts and maximize the impact junior scientists under your leadership.
Report to the head of computational biology and interface with C-suite leaders of the company.

Ideally, familiarity with AWS Batch and Nextflow or similar workflow managers.
Experience developing software in a regulated environment.
Familiarity with regulatory GXP requirements as they relate to software development.
Deep attention to information security.
Familiarity with processing next generation DNA sequencing datasets.
Dedication to mentorship and fostering the careers of junior scientists and software engineers.
PhD in Computer Science or related field and 4 or more years of experience developing infrastructure and pipelines applied to biomedical problems.
Experience in cloud-based, high-performance UNIX-compute environments.
Comfort developing high-quality code in a collaborative CI/CD software development environment.
Independence and self-motivation that allow you to take on projects with little direction and adjusting course in response to feedback and information.
Ability to work well in a dynamic, results-oriented team setting.
