The Boeing Company is seeking a Senior Software Project Lead (Level 4) based out of either Hazelwood, MO, Long Beach, CA, Plano, TX, or Mesa, AZ.

The Computing Platform Software team is in need of an senior software engineer to fill a project lead role and drive daily execution of one or more infrastructure software projects within Boeing AvionX. This software engineering position requires an experienced background in developing software, including the use of agile processes and lifecycle management tools and is able to serve as an agile mentor and coach for the team.

This role specializes in the ability to lead a typical team size of 8 to 12 US-based software engineers, as well as, a similar sized international-based independent test engineers, to breakdown work, organize, plan, integrate and track the scope of a 24-month software development project from beginning to end. The ideal candidate may see this as a career development opportunity into management, or has prior experience in organizational leadership such as first line manager or program manager.

Position Responsibilities:
Leads activities to develop, document and maintain complex architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.

Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system.

Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met.

Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities.

Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics.

Leads software research and development projects.

Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations.

Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.

Trains and mentors others.

Works under consultative direction.

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate may be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A fin al U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

3+ years of experience in programming in C, or C++

Software project management experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience with the Atlassian tools suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Git and Bamboo), with the ability to create, organize, track and predict the software project with custom dashboards and velocity metrics via Jira plug-ins such as structure and eazyBI

Experience with using Microsoft tools such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project

Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework for Enterprise (SAFE) processes and tools, and the scrum master and product owner roles and responsibilities

Knowledge of the earned value (EV) management system or control account manager (CAM) processes and tools

Knowledge of real-time, embedded, object oriented, infrastructure domain software

Knowledge of DO-178C safety standards, CI/CD automation and pipelines, requirements based testing and FAA certification

Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
