We’re looking for a full-stack software engineer to join the npm CLI team. This team is responsible for the open source tools that empower the JavaScript ecosystem to create, distribute & consume packages. Collaboration with both internal & external stakeholders is fundamental to this team’s success & ultimately drives how we work. Our team actively contributes back to the wider open source community, including the Node.js Project & OpenJS Foundation, while also helping to drive future innovation of GitHub Packages as a whole.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work as a full stack engineer with a distributed, diverse & a passionate team delivering features & improvements to our projects. You’ll work with other engineers, designers, security researchers, support technicians & product managers to build & maintain customer-facing experiences & deliver them into the hands of millions of developers across the world.
Responsibilities
- You will write, review & maintain code & technical documentation, primarily in JavaScript/Node.js
- You will interact with our community, consumers & contributors, on a daily basis
- You will collaborate closely with internal & external stakeholders to define, design & develop new features that align business objectives with end-user’s wants & needs
- You will be responsible for helping triage & remediate bugs & security vulnerabilities
- You will steward some of the most impactful JavaScript open source projects, relied on by millions of developers, enabling billions of downloads &, ultimately, creating connections to the world’s largest package registry
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years experience developing large scale projects/applications
- Experience with Git & GitHub
- Strong communication/interpersonal skills both written & verbal
- Experience contributing to, or maintaining, open source projects
- Experience writing modern JavaScript/Node.js. Experience with Go & Ruby on Rails is also a plus
- Experience interfacing with RESTful APIs & OAuth Workflows
- Solid understanding of testing best practices & shipping high quality software
- Passion for open source & web standards
