Senior Software Engineer – Connected Entitites (Remote)

As a Senior UI Software Engineer on the Connected Entities team you will have the opportunity to work in a hardworking team of engineers to build new greenfield capabilities in New Relic’s fastest-growing products in infrastructure & server monitoring.

What You’ll Do

  • Build highly-scalable, mission-critical services and applications that help power the New Relic One platform.
  • Actively drive continuous engineering excellence within your team and across the organization.
  • Use your experience to drive the team’s technical roadmap.
  • Engage with your team members and architects to discuss and implement service improvements and new development.
  • Partner with Product Management, Architecture and UX/Design to solve exciting customer problems.
  • Ship incrementally and often, helping the team to maintain a constant flow of feedback on its work.
  • Mentor other engineers on the team and beyond, and feel passionate about improving software by constant iteration with your team.
  • Be responsible for your work from inception to operation and maintenance, including participating in team on-call rotations and support activities.

Your Qualifications

Must-have:

  • 5+ years engineering experience building production web services in either Java (without Spring) or Go.
  • Significant experience with at least two of: Postgres/MySQL, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Redis, Kafka.
  • Experience in shipping and desire to continue to develop production, 24×7, highly reliable, highly-scalable, high-throughput services.
  • Comfortable collaborating on technical projects with a remote, distributed team.
  • Experience in mentorship and support for helping level-up the skills of colleagues.
  • Ability to learn new languages and frameworks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A self-directed problem solver who doesn’t hesitate to ask questions.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with Python, NodeJS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and C# are plusses
  • Familiarity with Cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.) services and architectures.
  • Experience with Observability platforms and best practices, including Infrastructure and Application monitoring
