Vectrona is developing cutting-edge AI/ML-based modeling & simulation systems and serious games to help train current and future warfighters in service and joint environments.
We require a seasoned Senior Software Developer with 12 years of software development and at least 7 years of leadership experience to support development, deployment, and operation of our simulation systems.
The Senior Software Developer will lead the creation of multiple XR projects and serve as the interface between Subject Matter Experts and the software development team to ensure program objectives are accomplished.
They will also play a key role in the development of Mixed Reality solutions that incorporate IoT and real-time sensor data.
Location: Remote or Virginia Beach, VA (desired) Start date: Immediate Hire Duties and Responsibilities: Define the technical architecture and manage the development of multiple XR projects Mentor junior members of the engineering team Manage multiple external contractors to ensure on-time, high quality delivery of work products Author and contribute to product artifacts (design documentation, user manuals, promotional material) Participate in technical strategy development, solution design, and proposal writing Support budget development and management Stay current with innovations in the XR and software engineering spaces Submit and present at industry conferences Education/Degree (minimum): BS in computer science, computer engineering, modeling and simulation engineering or 12 years equivalent practical experience Experience: Experience leading XR projects from inception to completion Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in hybrid remote/onsite settings (artists, instructional designers, engineers, data scientists) Experience working on both production and research focused efforts (SBIRs, STTRs) Experience working in regulated environments (ITAR, Classified) Experience with Mixed and Virtual Reality development (HoloLens, Oculus, etc.) Experience working with analysis of sensor data highly desired (eye tracking, biometric, accelerometer, etc.) Experience with IoT data integration, analysis, and visualization including applications of ThingWorx highly desired Experience with UI/UX Frameworks and Design including application of platforms such as Microsofts Mixed Reality Toolkit (MRTK) or Vuforia Deep experience with Object Oriented languages (C#, C++, etc) languages Experience with Agile development practices and tools (Jira, Confluence, etc) Experience with .NET / WPF / XAML Experience with speech recognition engines (including defining recognition grammars) Experience with version control platforms (Git, SVN, Perforce) Experience with Azure cloud services including data storage, data retrieval, authentication of users, and machine learning services Experience with Unity/Unreal or other 3D game engines Experience with embedded and mobile development platforms desired (iOS/Android) Familiarity with 3D modeling software desired (Maya, 3DStudioMax, Inventor, etc.) Familiarity with CI/CD and Test-Driven Development (TDD) desired Familiarity with instructional design methodologies desired Additional background in engineering related classes like physics, 3D geometry, linear algebra, game development, etc.
