The Network & Acquiring Solutions team (NAS) is the heart of the American Express Enterprise, powering billions of transactions through the global payments processing network that we develop and lead.

We work across almost every American Express business unit as well as with external partners, providers, and key industry collaborators.

The Network Capability Delivery team within NAS works to deliver a full-scale modernized Network including new digital products such as Debit, QR, Tokenization and Local Network solutions to meet the evolving demands of global payment networks and adapt to local needs while ensuring continued global interoperability.

This enables us to attract new customers, operate in new markets, react to changing regulatory demands, and process new/emerging types of payments.

The Business Architect is part of the Network Capability Delivery Team.

This team interfaces between the business partners and the engineers that provide the subject matter expertise related to their products and processes, creates features and user stories and leads scope discussions and analysis required to define and deliver the minimum viable product.

Key Responsibilities Business Architect Drive Technical Product Roadmap and strategy Develop a technical understanding of the Network and act as the subject matter specialist for American Express network functionality Participate in technical discussions with Engineering teams Work with other product owners, deployment teams and technologies to ensure product vision is met Partner with Technologies and Product Teams to understand the roadmap and prioritize into a backlog with clearly defined features and user stories Utilize agile tools and techniques to drive successful delivery and maximize value to partners Raise risks and issues in a timely manner Identify and drive opportunities for improvement Provide consultancy to business partners (e.g.

Operation Teams, Finance, Technology, Compliance) to ensure that processes, capabilities and platforms are utilized appropriately Influence, lead and communicate to all levels across a broad range of customers and constituents as well as build and maintain relationships Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science and/or relevant experience 5-10 years of experience in Engineering/Technical field Experience in Security protocols and Managed File Transfer 3 years of Product Management experience and/or relevant experience Agile experience is a must Agile certification/s preferred Knowledge/ Skills Experience as a Scrum Master/Product Owner/Product Manager/Technical Lead/Architect or similar role with familiarity with Rally, JIRA or similar tools Understanding of Scaled Agile (SAFe) principles and experience effectively managing a backlog of competing initiatives Experience driving results and collaborating in a cross-functional and global environment “Growth Mindset” with a passion for innovative thinking High level of comfort working with technology teams, and a strong grasp of engineering fundamentals and development terminology Flexibility in supporting various time zones, as role supports global initiatives (India, UK & US) Familiarity/experience in payment networks and/or payment products desirable, a plus Authorizations, Clearing, Pricing and/or Settlement experience, a plus High performing behaviors Able to challenge the status quo and drive innovation by generating creative ideas and solutions Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, manage conflicting priorities and influence without authority are necessary leadership attributes of the successful candidate Adapts to change quickly and easily Knows when to raise decisions and when to make on-the-spot decisions Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S.
