The Secure Sensor Solutions (S3) Advanced RF Systems Engineering Department requires a Section Manager to help lead the Engineering organization. The Advanced RF Systems Engineering Department is responsible for advanced algorithms and signal processing upgrades to Tactical Airborne Radars in support of the Secure Sensor Solutions (S3) Business area.
The S3 Systems Engineering Advanced RF Department has an immediate opportunity for a Section Manager for the F/A-18, F-15, and Advanced Concepts and Technology (ACT) Product lines. The Section Manager performs direct line management activities and provides leadership for approximately 8-10 systems engineers with expertise Radar Systems Engineering, Algorithm Development, Signal Processing, and Aided Target Recognition. The Section Manager is responsible for the adherence to System?s Engineering?s processes and best practices. The Section Manager will be responsible for the technical quality of the work products produced by those in the section while also ensuring that the work is done on schedule and on budget. The Section Manager interacts frequently with the Department Manager, team leads, and Chief Engineers ensuring that the section is meeting the needs of its internal customers, external customers and the Systems Engineering Center. Three quarters of the Section Manager’s time will be devoted to direct work on programs, as an Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL), Product owner, individual contributor, technical reviewer, or other as needed role.
The Section Manager needs to be an effective communicator, leader, and decision maker, and a strong advocate for process improvement, diversity in the work force, and high professional standards. Additionally, the Section Manager must support the Department Manager in bidding new pursuits. The candidate will ensure two-way communications for section members; serve as a day-to-day liaison to the programs concerning employee job assignments, performance, and recognition for those working in the section. Responsibilities also include coordinating program staffing needs, interviewing applicants, and career development of their team.
Required Skills:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in systems engineering
- Experience with Radar Systems Engineering
- Background and knowledge of RF, electrical, mechanical, and/or system level requirements
- Proficient with requirements decomposition, flow-down and verification
- Experience in the front end of the business including proposal estimation
- Experience leading small teams to achieve goals on cost and schedule
- Practiced at preparing management level briefings
- Experience with earned value management (EVMS) tracking and reporting
- Can work effectively in both independent and team environments
- Active DoD Secret Security clearance
Desired Skills:
- Experience with Algorithm Development, Signal Processing, and Aided Target Recognition
- Experience with Agile Development Processes
- Proficient with Integration and Test best practices
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills including management and customer briefings experience
- Strong judgment and decision making abilities on technical and programmatic issues.
- Able to effectively juggle multiple tasks and priorities.
- Active Top Secret and/or SSBI Security clearances
Required Education (including Major):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or other related technical field
Desired Education:
- Advanced degrees in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or other related technical field.
