Research Psychologist

HJF is seeking a Research Psychologist I or II to support the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress (CSTS) within the Department of Psychiatry at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS).

This position is located at the CSTS Office in Bethesda, MD.

HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to CSTS.

US citizenship is required.

The Department has active research programs in the Basic and Clinical Sciences and Neurosciences.

In addition to intramural research projects, the Department maintains active research funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, National Institute of Drug Abuse, National Science Foundation, the Department of the Army and the Department of the Air Force.

The department has ongoing collaborations with the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, is sponsor of the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress, and provides psychiatry residency training through its affiliations with Walter Reed Army Medical Center, National Naval Medical Center and Malcolm Grow Air Force Medical Center and the National Capital Area Graduate Medical Education Consortium.

Responsibilities: Assists in designing, developing, executing and implementing scientific research and/or development related to disasters, trauma, and/or suicidality.

Assists in development of study methodology.

Performs basic behavioral science research and data analysis.

Interpretation and application of data analyses.

Assists with the preparation of manuscripts and grant applications.

Assists with the training of research assistants.

All other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Familiarity with military medical system desirable.

Publications preferred but not required.

Minimum Education: Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or related field is required.

Minimum Experience/ Training Requirements: Level 1: 0-2 years related experience in research design and implementation required.

Level 2: 3-5 years related experience in research design and implementation required.

Physical Capabilities: Walking, standing, and sitting for an extended period.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise and assist junior scientists and project staff.

Work Environment: Set in an office work environment.

Background/Security: US Citizenship required; eligibility to obtain a Public Trust background and a Common Access Card (CAC).
