Radar Systems Engineer / Mode Analyst

Raytheon Intelligence & Space (RIS) is the provider of advanced electrical scanned antenna (AESA) radar sensor systems for multiple platforms including: the U.S.

Navy’s F/A-18 Aircraft, the Air Force’s F/A-15 Aircraft, and the Gen 5.x Family of Systems (FOS) Radars for multiple platforms.

The Future Aircraft Systems and Technology Department within the Systems Engineering Center supports the development of new capabilities for existing radar systems as well as development of Next-Generation Radar Systems for the US Government.

This department provides the full range of systems design, analysis, integration, verification, and validation activities in support of SAS radar programs.
Primary Responsibilities: Design and development of radar waveforms for imaging, target search, track and identification Develop mathematical algorithms for mode/sensor implementation Conduct performance predictions and trade studies Provide technical leadership for a team of Systems and Software engineers in the development and implementation of Software Analysis tools applied to Radar Sensor products Lead and participate in peer reviews throughout the product lifecycle of design, development, integration and test, and flight test requirements verification Lead Root Cause Analysis utilizing Raytheon Technologies Best Practices (R6Sigma) and Tools to identify and analyze Radar System anomalies Development / maturation of fault tabulation & prediction tools utilizing Matlab, Python, Excel, etc.

Perform technical and programmatic presentations to both internal and external customers Develop and maintain requirements for a small family of related airborne Radar Sensor Programs Support the development and flow down of systems requirements, error budget trees, and performance modeling, simulation and analysis Lead design reviews, test/production readiness reviews, gate reviews, trade studies and other program/customer reviews as required to keep the Team on track Support new/follow-on business proposals and ROMs as required by the program Provide cost and schedule estimates/impacts for proposed engineering changes or BOEs Will support the professional development of team members and ensure senior technical personnel “pass on” knowledge to more junior personnel Provide development feedback and information back to functional organizations
Required Skills: Domain Knowledge Minimum of 10 years of full life cycle Systems Engineering experience Demonstrated understanding of Airborne Radar systems and their principals of design, development, Requirements Verification, I & T, Operation, Flight Test, Repair and Sustainment Strong mathematical problem solving ability and data analysis experience Electronics system performance analysis, test and integration Knowledge and experience of waveform design and signal processing for Air-to-Surface and Air-to-Air radar modes Familiarity with the execution of technical reviews (SRRs, PDRs, CDRs, TIMS) and Independent Reviews (IRs) for gates Strong knowledge of algorithm development Working knowledge of Matlab Leadership Communication, integrity, judgment, coordination, influence Actively engages, drives change to achieve execution excellence and solve critical issues Examples of leading a technical team in advanced radar development efforts Mentoring and providing career development direction to junior engineers Desired Skills: Radar system architecture, Design, Hardware Integration, and Test.

SW Modes and collection methodology and corresponding artifacts influencing Radar products.

Analysis which predicts overall system performance, error margins and performance budgets (link budget) Experience in hardware and software integration of embedded, real-time complex systems Flight test and Data Reduction and Data Analysis Proposal development and authoring technical volumes Technical mentoring as subject matter expert in Radar Systems Experience as a IV&V Lead or Technical Lead on a previous program Strong work ethic, Leads by example
Required Education: BS Degree in Engineering, Physics, Math, System Engineering or related discipline.
Desired Education: MS Degree in Engineering, Physics, Math, System Engineering or related discipline.
