All of the sky, none of the limits About You: Are you an experienced systems engineer looking for something that you just can’t find in big aerospace? Do you dream about drawing architecture and defining requirements from a blank slate? Are you obsessed with system safety? If so, you might be a good fit for the team in a Principal Systems Engineer role here at Merlin. The Role: Drive the development of concepts of operation, system architecture (including functional and physical architectures), system requirements, and system interfaces for Merlin products. On this small, agile team, you will own significant pieces of these activities yourself. Coordinate the safety, hardware, and software teams to capture, document, and communicate requirements and interfaces. Perform system level verification and validation activities. Write and maintain systems engineering development plans and processes. Participate in reviews of artifacts with regulatory authorities as required. Qualifications: BS in Electrical, Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems Engineering or a related subject. 10 years of experience conducting systems/subsystems engineering for FAA/EASA certification programs for part 23 or part 25 aircraft. Working knowledge of FAA/EASA regulations pertaining to certification of Automatic Flight Controls systems. Hands-on experience in developing Automatic Flight Control System functions including Autopilot, Flight Guidance, Autothrottle. Demonstrated ability to solve complex architectural and systems engineering related problems. Hands-on experience in certifying avionics equipment using ARP4754A, RTCA DO-178B/C for flight critical systems. Bonus: Specific experience conducting ground and flight tests for Automatic Flight Control Systems.
