We’re looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our growing team and roster of products. It’s a unique opportunity to build a greenfield application from the ground up, collaborate across different organizations and work with a highly data-driven cross-functional team.

We do this via several products, including assessments, innovative user engagement, machine learning models, and collecting feedback. Who You Are

Requirements

10+ years of professional experience designing and building software
Demonstrated track record of architecting and implementing highly scalable software services
Solid knowledge of data structures and algorithms
Experience using modern, object-oriented programming languages such as Java, Python, NodeJS, Ruby, or C#
Strong knowledge of databases (both SQL and NoSQL) and API best practices (both REST and GraphQL)
Experience with service-oriented and event-driven system architectures and building high-performance distributed systems
The ability to communicate well (in person, on paper, or in code)
Passion for mentoring and guiding other engineers

Nice to have:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent field
Experience deploying or migrating systems to AWS
Experience with messaging systems such as Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ

Salary Range Disclaimer

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Indeed’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include quarterly bonuses, Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), an open Paid Time Off policy, and many region-specific benefits.

Seattle 217,000 – 315,000 USD per year

Austin 167,000 – 243,000 USD per year

NYC Metro Area 206,000 – 298,000 USD per year

SF Bay Area 224,000 – 324,000 USD per year

US Remote 167,000 – 243,000 USD per year
