The Boeing Company is seeking an experienced and motivated Mid-Level Real Time Software Engineer to support our simulation interface management team. This position is generally a remote role that does not require you to be on a work site but there may be a very small amount of onsite work needed at one of these locations, Oklahoma City, OK, Berkeley, MO, Chicago, IL, Colorado Springs, CO, El Segundo, CA, Huntington Beach, CA, Huntsville AL, Long Beach, CA, Mesa AZ, North Charleston, SC, Plano TX, Ridley Park, PA, San Antonio, TX, Seal Beach, CA, Aurora, CO or Maryland, MO. The hired employee can live anywhere in the country and is not required to be in a commutable distance to any of these work sites.

This team is responsible for the development of Interface Control Document (ICD) utilities and automation tools used in vehicle simulations. These simulations are used interactively in the Boeing cloud, on engineering workstations, in hardware-in-the-loop test benches, and flight deck environments.

Candidates are not required to live in any of the listed locations, but will be required to travel to a listed location when needed. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support the entire software development lifecycle for simulation interface development, alignment, and visualization

  • Support a fast paced, international Agile Development team, coordinate and implement customer requirements, demonstrate progress and capabilities to customers and stakeholders, and lead detailed planning

  • Support the entire software development lifecycle (design, review, code, test, deliver, maintain)

  • Dedication to unit testing, test driven development, continuous integration and continuous development practices

  • Documentation of system architecture, design and operation

  • Customer support, training, consulting, problem investigation and debugging

  • Coordinate with other Boeing Enterprise teams also developing ICD tools and processes

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.  This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 3+ years of experience with embedded software design, development, debugging, and performing software integration and test

  • Experience with Linux / Unix software development environment

  • Experience in software development and configuration management (CM) tools

  • Experience with Agile Development

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with COTS modeling and simulation tools like Matlab/Simulink

  • Experience with relational or graph databases

  • Experience with containerized software and environments (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, Openshift)

  • Experience with Boeing Commercial Airplane ICD database tools and processes such as SLATE-FI or Interbase

  • Experience in the development of high fidelity flight simulation environments

  • Experience with Boeing Simulation software, such as PSIM or the Common Simulation Framework

  • Experience with cloud services such as Azure or AWS

  • Model Based Engineering concept familiarity

  • Formal Agile training (Product Owner, Scrum Master, SAFE principles)

Typical Education/Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only.  Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range: 96,900 – 151,800
