The Aerospace Corporation is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Software Systems Engineer for an opportunity in the Production Division.

The selected candidate will serve as a technical advisor to the US Government focusing on risk management, reliability, and quality assurance of a diverse portfolio of software development efforts for the next generation of Military GPS User Equipment.

The selected candidate will apply software engineering, systems engineering, and risk and reliability engineering methods to assess software architectures, designs, development activities, testing, integration, software release management, and sustainment processes to ensure enterprise requirements, CONOPS, and architectural models are accurately derived, allocated, and applied to development efforts, promoting the use of technology and platform efficiencies.

In this role the selected candidate will document and provide insight to the customer and development contractors on identified risks, issues, opportunities, and associated mitigation strategies and corrective approaches to meet technical objectives and schedule milestones.

Key Functions As the Aerospace representative in customer or contractor’s environment, provides nondirective advice, accepts action items, and may coordinate pertinent tasks and priorities.

In systems engineering assignments, generally leads and coordinates team comprised of diversely skilled engineers servicing a major portion of a large project or working across projects, and interfaces regularly with customer and contractor program management.

Provides software engineering expertise at technical interchange meetings with Aerospace, customer, and contractor personnel Acts as senior technical authority, consultant, primary investigator, or team leader.

May lead or organize interfaces between customer and Aerospace technical and management staff.

Performs and document technology/software risk assessments, recommendations, analyses and trade studies for a diverse set of contractor software frameworks and applications Identifies and applies systems engineering and mission assurance best practices and processes to enable successful acquisitions and fielding of new capabilities Identifies and develops standards and procedures to determine software product quality and assess release readiness Conducts and/or leads studies of software quality, system design adequacy, and compliance with mission requirements to identify and recommend mitigation approaches for software systems issues Assesses contractors’ software development practices, procedures, and performance to identify potential bugs or problems that users might encounter Reviews contract deliverables and provides technical advice to program office teams and leadership throughout acquisition and software lifecycles Qualifications Required Demonstrated high level of innovation and creativity in programmatic problem solving Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers Excellent verbal and written communication skills Bachelor’s degree in Computer or Information Science, Software or Systems Engineering, or a related STEM field 12 or more years of professional engineering/scientific experience, including multi-disciplinary software engineering, systems engineering, and/or program management environments Expertise in systems engineering, including risk management and software systems assurance analysis Willing to travel occasionally Active Secret clearance , which is issued by the US government.

U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize across multiple simultaneous projects Preferred Advanced degree in Computer or Information Science, Software or Systems Engineering, or a related STEM field Familiarity with government acquisition and programmatic processes Experience working in a government program office environment Experience contributing to software-related specifications and standards Practical experience with modern software project management or development techniques, including digital engineering and agile software development Ways We Reward Our Employees During your interview process, our team will provide all the details of our industry-leading benefits and career development opportunities.
