Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS), Space and Launch Division, is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer (Level 4) to support the team in El Segundo, CA or Aurora, CO. The Space and Launch Team creates the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. We work with both commercial and proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Our team focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.

Position Overview:
The Lead Systems Engineer will be a part of a high-performing team that are immersed in high intensity development projects. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to support proprietary programs being performed for U.S. government customers who are responsible for exciting national security missions. This position will contribute to the design, build, deploy, operate, and maintain a wide variety of mission critical platforms and systems for commercial and government customers. This role will participate in vital requirements development and integration and test activities to establish product readiness for off-site operations.

Primary Responsibilities:
Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.

Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.

Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.

Performs analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.

Develops, maintains and identifies improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.

Resolves cross-functional technical issues.

Actively participate in integration and test activities for our products .

Supports the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, and opportunity management processes.

Work Authorization:
This position requires an active/current Top Secret/SCI U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics.

5 years or more of experience developing system test plans and procedures.

5 years or more of experience with decomposing and allocating requirements.

5 years or more of experience using DOORS, requirement verification methods and artifacts.

Ability to work in a collaborative team environment

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience with agile development processes and methods.

Experience in development of C2 software systems.

Experience developing and managing strong relationships with partners (internal & external).

Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD +3 years’ related work experience, Masters +5 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
