Boeing Phantom Works creates the next generation products and services for the Boeing Defense, Space & Security business and is currently looking for a Lead Communication Systems Engineer to join their team in El Segundo, CA.
We work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space.
Phantom Works focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers.
Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.
We are seeking a Lead Communication Systems Engineer with experience in satellite communication systems to work in a rapid development environment.
This engineer will participate in all phases of the system development life cycle, including architecture development, requirements definition, analysis and decomposition, software and hardware system design, algorithm design, risk management, integration, test, and operations .
The successful candidate will be leading system level communication design, development, verification, and operations activities.
Position Responsibilities: Lead communication architecture design, development, requirements definition, interface definition, analysis, functional decomposition, and CONOPS activities for space communication architectures.
Lead communication trade studies and briefings.
Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and internal multi-disciplinary teams.
Lead communication verification, validation, integration and test planning and execution (including functional validation as well as formal requirements sell-off).
Lead risk reduction activities and issue resolution.
This position requires an active U.S.
Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S.
Citizenship Required) with a T5 (formally known as SSBI).
(A U.S.
Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
Investigation must have been completed within the past 5 years.
Boeing security will verify clearance validation.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): BS degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics or Engineering is required.
5+ years of experience with communications design, analysis, development, and verification.
5+ years of experience in RF, digital signal processing (DSP), and/or optical communications.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Experience with digital/RF communications hardware and lab equipment.
Experience with Model Based Engineering tools and languages.
Experience in rapid prototyping activities with small spacecraft.
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g.
Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g.
PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience).
In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
