Lead Bench Hand – Flight Hardware (relocation required)

*JOB DESCRIPTION*

The Lead Aerospace Flight Hardware Assembler/Bench Hand champions the benching/deburring, assembly, and coordination of single-piece details and small assemblies of assigned low-volume hardware through the build process.

*DUTIES*
* Examine and understand the blueprint and model as well as any key documents (specifications, purchase orders, etc.) for the assigned part or assembly
* Bench/deburr parts to specified surface finishes per blueprint requirements
* Assemble and install different machined, sheet metal, or purchased details using hand tools and fixtures
* Install clinch nuts, rivets, Keensert® inserts, HELICOIL® inserts, clamps, pins, screws, or other items as needed with hand tools and/or pneumatic equipment

* Coordinate with other departments on timing for dimensional inspection, machining, and Program Management to schedule outside services (NDT, coatings, etc.)

* Set up drill bars with the aid of inspection to locate and drill holes that cannot be machined conventionally

* Brainstorm with the other manufacturing team members, inspection, quality assurance, program managers, and customers on all hardware for “best practices/processes” to achieve end results

* Suggest tooling for purchase for successful completion to the management team

* Lead, develop and mentor a team of associates to be qualified and help grow the flight hardware division

* Set up and operate a variety of machines and shop equipment to cut, shape, and finish materials to specified dimensions as required

* Fit, align, and assemble flight hardware components and measure flight hardware assemblies for conformance to specifications using precision measuring and checking instruments such as calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, etc.

* Repair or rework tools as needed to perform the job

* May draw sketches and prepare detailed instructions for fabricating or machining to be performed by other workers

* Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations inside and outside plants
* Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
* Maintain continuity between work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
* Document actions by completing production timesheets
* Accomplish organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
* Additional job duties as assigned

*QUALIFICATIONS*
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Experience in the use of handheld tools (deburr tools, sanders, rivet guns, adhesive applicators, etc.)
* 5 years of experience in the benching/assembly of aircraft parts/fly parts/fly-away parts/flight hardware (all synonymous)

* Ability to pass a drug test in compliance with the law
* Ability to pass a background check in compliance with the law

* To conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicants should be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government
