Capgemini Government Solutions (CGS) LLC is seeking highly motivated Junior Cloud DBA to join our team in the DC Metro Area to support our government clients. The successful applicant will work closely with our clients to provide cloud database administration services.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to apply and grow their skillset, work with a motivated and entrepreneurial team, engage with a wide range of stakeholders, and build CGS’ capabilities to serve our clients.

The ideal candidate must have cloud database engineering experience with both Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) in an enterprise cloud environment.

As a Jr. Cloud DBA your job responsibilities will be:

  • Collaborate with Senior Cloud DBAs, Cloud Architects, Cloud Engineers, Software Vendors and Software Development Teams to provide operations and migration services that enable CGS clients to utilize database technology within their respective cloud environments.
  • Engage with engineering teams to gather infrastructure and database platform requirements within Azure and AWS or other cloud service provider environments as required by CGS clients.
  • Utilize industry standard tools, cloud service provider native portals and features, and/or other third-party client approved tools necessary to provide operations, maintenance, and migration support services.
  • Support day-to-day operations and management of an enterprise-level development, testing and production database management systems.
  • Deploy, configure, manage, and test installations, upgrades, replication, backup and recovery of current databases.
  • Monitor user access and performance of the database systems, provide incident support and analysis services, provide log and error reporting information to colleagues, customer, and support organizations as necessary to resolve user impacting issues
  • Helps to create and maintain documentation for cloud database operations in accordance with industry standards and best practices
  • Participates in after business hours maintenance windows and on-call rotation is required

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret or Top-Secret clearance depending on Federal client requirements.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline
  • AWS/Azure DBA Certification (AWS Associate Cert. OR Azure Associate / Intermediate Cert. OR AWS/Azure Certification)
  • BS/BA degree plus 2-4 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Federal Government experience
  • Experience with cloud database technologies (ex: AWS RDS, Oracle, MS SQL Azure, etc.)
  • One or more Microsoft or Amazon cloud certifications.
  • One or more database certification (ex: Oracle, Microsoft, etc.)
  • Very solid experience of database administration in a cloud environment including experience with replication, clustering, and partitioning.
  • Knowledge of indexes, index management, statistics, data-at-rest encryption, secure connectivity.
  • Understanding of Agile and/or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) experience, or relevant Agile (Scrum, Kanban)
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in written documentation.
  • Strong desire to understand, document and communicate how things work.
