Boeing Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems has exciting opportunities for all levels of currently active Top Secret / Top Secret SCI / SSBI Tier 5 Systems Engineers to join us as part of our teams located in El Segundo / Sylmar / Seal Beach, CA, Aurora / Colorado Springs, CO, Las Cruces, NM, Kent, WA, Kennedy Space Center (Titusville), FL, Chantilly / Fairfax / Herndon, VA.
Position Overview:
As a Boeing Space and Launch Systems Engineer, you will design, develop, and deliver state-of-the-art communication/payload systems for space-based applications for commercial, civil and/or national security programs. You will work with a highly-motivated team that works with domestic or international customers on their latest satellite systems. You will be a part of a systems engineering team that works with a large cross-functional group including customers, suppliers, hardware and software engineers, integration and test engineers, and senior technologists to ensure that the final products meet the mission objectives. You will perform system analyses and simulations for space communications/payload systems, optimize the system design by performing trade studies, flow down and verify subsystem and unit requirements, develop ConOps, support integration and testing, and/or validate interfaces. Project assignments typically span the complete program life cycle, from internal trades, concept studies and system definition, to satellite development, launch, and on-orbit operations and test.

Position Responsibilities:
- Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify basic lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
- Evaluates customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
- Performs analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.
- Performs analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.
- Supports the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.

These positions are expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Some worksites such as Kent, Seal Beach, El Segundo, Kennedy Space Center participate in Boeing’s optional 9/80 schedule rotation. 9/80 is a rotation in which employees can work 9 hour shifts, 8 days per pay period (bi-weekly) and receive every other Friday off.
Some positions may require travel. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically and/or Internationally depending on business needs.
This position requires an active Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI U.S. Security Clearance (A U.S. Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.) -OR- a current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required) and requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics
- One or more of the following: A Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) and agreement to enter a Continuous Evaluation program, a U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months and/or a U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
- Experience in Systems Engineering (Guideline Below)
- Level 1: Less than 1 year
- Level 2: 1+ years
- Level 3: 3+ years
- Experience working with space programs and/or aerospace programs
- Professional communication skills with aptitude or experience creating and presenting technical presentations to various groups of people
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Typical Education/Experience
Entry Level (Level 1)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Associate (Level 2)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
Experienced (Level 3)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range for associate: 87,550 – 118,450
