The Boeing Defense, Space and Security, Autonomous Systems division is seeking a Network Systems Engineering Engineer to provide support to the Gigabit Ethernet Data Multiplex System (GEDMS) program in Huntington Beach, CA.
The business further supports customer missions and payloads needs through proprietary programs and by providing acoustics systems, integrated shipboard systems, tactical communications systems and advanced mission solutions.
Gigabit Ethernet Data Multiplex System (GEDMS) is an accredited ship-wide Platform Information Technology (PIT) control system data network that is the latest variant of Boeing’s AN/USQ-82(V) family of shipboard networks.
The system is designed for use on U.S.
Navy Surface Combatants, Carriers and Amphibious ships including the Arleigh Burke class of destroyers, DDG-51 and follow-on derivatives, and Aegis Ashore installations.
Primary Responsibilities: Candidate will evaluate customer and /operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements.
Supports various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.
Performs analyses for safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, system security, certification, and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success This position allows telecommuting.
The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires an active U.S.
Secret Security Clearance (U.S.
Citizenship Required).
(A U.S.
Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active) Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience): Bachelor’s degree and typically 3-5 years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
Experience collaborating and coordinating across hardware, software, integration and test, quality, cybersecurity and production engineering disciplines to plan, architect, design, develop and verify system through product lifecycle including production and fielded system support.
Experience developing, planning, organizing, implementing and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience): Experience with DoD secure real-time embedded network communications and control systems.
Knowledge of Boeing’s organizations, processes, program plans, policies and procedures, and products required to effectively perform functional responsibilities of the occupation.
The ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables.
Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area.
Skill and ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.
Experience with Naval shipboard network, industrial control system (ICS), and platform information technology (PIT) systems Ability to resolve cross-functional technical issues.
Experience evaluating customer and /operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
Able to perform analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.
Experience performing analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.
Experience with application of DevSecOps tools and processes.
Typical Education & Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g.
Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g.
PhD, Master3 years’ related work experience).
In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
