Explore RIS: Raytheon Intelligence & Space
Our Advanced Electro-Optical (AEO) Engineering team has an immediate opportunity for a Systems Engineer with expertise in airborne electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) surveillance and targeting sensor systems.

You will join a design team building electro-optical systems, including imagers, passive/active EO trackers, LIDAR, and directed energy systems.

Expertise should include experience in requirements development/allocation/verification, system qualification, Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) product life cycle, and system performance analysis for electro-optical systems.

The systems engineer will also be responsible for tracing requirements through the systems, managing the requirements through DOORS, and supporting model-based systems engineering (MBSE) initiatives in support of the development and build of advanced electro-optical systems.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with very strong problem solving skills and a demonstrated capability in the design, integration, and test of complex engineering systems.
Primary tasks include: Lead requirements development, allocation, and verification at system, subsystem, and component levels Lead requirements management through DOORS Supporting MBSE initiatives using DOORS Next Gen and Cameo Required Skills:
Minimum 8 years of experience in systems engineering or a related field (optical engineering, electrical engineering, applied physics, etc.) with demonstrated experience in systems architecture and design, IV&V planning, procedures, and strategies.
Requires a solid EO systems engineering background including experience in design and development OR modeling and simulation of EO/IR Systems; integration and Test experience with EO/IR systems or laser/LIDAR systems.
Experience with systems engineering work products such as: Systems Design and Architecture, Requirements Allocation and Development, Modeling, Simulation, and Trade Studies, Structural, Thermal, and Optical Analysis as well as Systems Verification (Buy Off/Sell Off Activities), Systems Reliability /Safety, Risk Management, and Technical Planning.
Requires a strong math and physics background; prior experience working with multi-disciplined teams and ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with all levels of the organization; excellent oral and written communication skills as well as demonstrated problem solving, organization, coordination, and planning skills.

– An active and in-scope DOD Secret US security clearance is required.

Desired Skills: Has previous experience working on airborne or ground vehicle weapon systems and fire control systems Experience in transitioning EO product from EMD(Engineering and Manufacturing Development) into a production phase Technical experience in opto-mechanical engineering, control systems, embedded computing, or electronics Experience in model based systems engineering and familiarity with associated tools, such as DOORS Experience in numerical modeling and simulation, and performing analysis using, C++, Python, or similar language Experience with signal processing, image processing, tracking, computer vision, machine learning, and/or object recognition
