Director of Customer Systems Engineering, Embedded Business Unit The Role We are seeking a seasoned engineering leader o establish and own the in Austin based customer systems engineering team.

The team is comprised of highly skilled systems-engineers who are assigned on a dedicated basis to premier customer programs/accounts in different market segments.

They are responsible for understanding the full customer solutions and how AMD products / systems fit, providing guidance and technical oversight context to other functional domain CEs.

They drive deep-technical discussions on customer topics, solutions architecting for each customer’s unique requirements.

He/she is the overall technical/engineering lead for the customer program.

This is a highly visible role and pivotal to the success of the business unit in achieving the ambitious-and-aggressive growth goals.

The Person This leader will mentor the top-notch systems engineering team, instill the architectural approach among the team members as they lead the technical customer programs.

This leader and the team will be part of the over-arching vision of deep-collaborative customer success model where customer systems engineers work along with x-functional team of domain specialists and customer program management for the success of their customer programs and as a result building long lasting relationship and strong competitive advantage.

You’ll interact with key engineering and management partners for the strategic customers as well as AMDs business team to report progress, align on critical topics and drive action items to closure.

This leader is very versatile
– technically understanding the different customer solutions in multiple market segments to be able to provide right technical guidance and most efficient way of problem solving.

Please apply Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership in establishing, growing / scaling a small but highly talented CE team Execute team assignments across customer base; scale the team as customer programs increase and making sure the team are set up for success Flexible leadership at multiple technical levels from the architectural view as well as the detailed tactical level.

Customer critical issue management including internal and external executive communications and alignment.

Ensure that roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and clearly aligned with multi-functional teams.

Operationalize the customer success models.

Inspire customer-success-obsessed mentality; act as the voice of the customer in internal forums and problem specific team interactions.

Precise / concise executive reporting on consolidated customer status, Mentor, guide and develop the team in right way to approach problem solving and navigating ambiguous situations.

Technical understanding of a matrix of product-lines, market-segments and unique customer applications.

Effective resolution management and alignment with customers on complicated situations.

Preferred Experience: Extensive experience in customer-facing technical roles as systems architect or systems engineering in semiconductor companies.

Breadth and depth of systems technical knowledge (x86, SoC, Platform-HW, Platform-SW, BIOS/FW, Tools) Demonstrated knack for pursuing excellence by challenging the status-quo and becoming the change agent.

Expertise in driving the right solution and tackling multiple competing priorities.

Experience in networking, storage and/or automotive markets segments.

Excellent communication skills.
