DevOps Engineer

Our location in Sylmar, CA, currently has an opportunity for a DevOps Engineer.  

DevOps Engineer will work on services and applications hosted on Azure and Premises platforms. Contribute to designing and developing software for medical devices under a disciplined product development process that meets FDA and other regulatory requirements. Work on software design, coding, and validating software, supporting verification and validation testing, and ensuring that all product development conforms to medical device design specifications and coding standards. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Deploy CI/CD pipelines and demonstrate scripting skills through Ruby, Python, Shell or other scripting languages.

  • Manage tools such as Jenkins, Chef, Ansible or Puppet.

  • Manage Azure Kubernetes Services, Azure DevOps and Bitbucket/Git. 

  • Design and manage release management workflow and overall release strategy.

  • Support releases and deployment of code from Development, Test, Stage and Production environments. 

  • Ensure code quality, test and distribute code updates and monitor the health and stability of the servers. 

  • Design and implement software using core Java (J2SE). Experience with Linux, object oriented concepts, embedded software, and the Eclipse IDE are highly desirable.

  • Assist in the preparation of software design requirements and detailed design specifications for implementation of software designs per Abbott design development process.

  • Assist in the evaluation of selected designs through testing and full documentation of the results.

  • Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.

  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

  • Ability and willingness to learn new things quickly, good verbal and written communications skills as well as teamwork skills are highly desirable.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics), advanced degree preferred

  • Minimum of 6 years of progressively more responsible work experience in a range of software engineering disciplines using a variety of programming methods.
