Database Engineering – Cassandra NoSQL

Responsibilities The candidate will join the DBRE team, report to lead engineer or manager. The candidate will be responsible to create, install, configure Cassandra cluster and other day to day database operation tasks. The candidate will be responsible to monitor cluster health and performance, perform diagnostic and troubleshooting. The candidate will be responsible to backup and restore data to secure the system in the event of failure or env clone. The candidate will be responsible to conduct stress /benchmark tests before and after deployment and interpret the performance result. The candidate will be responsible to use the tools to perform common operation tasks such as node sync, and data repair. The candidate will be responsible to maintain team document and run-book/playbook The candidate will be involved in other database projects, such as DynamoDB, MongoDB or AWS RDS. Technical Skills 2-3 years of experience building, administering and managing mission-critical highly available/high volume production Cassandra OSS, DSE or ScyllaDB databases 2-3 years of experience of AWS implementation. Solid knowledge of EC2, ASG, SG, EBS, S3, IAM, Cloudwatch and Lambda. Have concept of database scaling Experience on other database technologies is a plus. Such as Aurora RDS, DynamoDB and MongoDBSolid knowledge of database concepts, Linux system concepts, noSQL concepts and data models. Experience with gitlab, prometheus and grafanaExperience of configuration management tools such as Terraform (preferred), Salt, Ansible, Puppet or Chef. Skill set on one or more programming languages: Java, Python or Go. Preferred knowledge with Linux OS, KVM, docker and Kubernetes etc. Preferred knowledge with storage system (NFS, SATA, SSD etc) Strong ability to quickly learn new technologies and business functions. Ability to work within Agile and Lean Practices.
