Find your future with us.The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), Space and Launch Division, is seeking a SATCOM Chief Architect to join the team in either El Segundo or Seal Beach, CA.

The Space and Launch Team creates the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit.

We work with customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space.

Our team focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers.

Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.

The SATCOM Chief Architect is responsible for leading the architecture development of a Satellite Communication System; with overall accountability to verify that the systems will be deployable and meet customer/mission requirements.

The candidate will manage architectural trades and analysis, lead engineering review boards and Safety Review Boards, develop use cases, Concept of Operations and form working groups, support algorithm development and simulation development.

Architectural work will be performed within a SysML compliant MBSE Environment.

Behavioral Architectural Analysis includes Use Case / Mission Thread definition, including defining activity flows and data flow behaviors.

Structural Architecture definition as well as providing oversight of architectural trade spaces.

The Chief Architect will working closely with Software and Hardware interface developers to approve designs.

The individual selected for this role will work directly with the System Engineers, Non-Boeing Partners, the Program Chief Engineer, Program Management, and the Customer representatives to drive the team in reaching a consensus on the Architectural trades and concerns.

Position Responsibilities:Lead the development of formal systems requirements for space and ground elements.Lead the development of the behavioral and physical architectures of the system.Lead the development of system designs that satisfy the system requirements.Develop system-level concept of operations (ConOps), perform functional analysis and decomposition to meet end user needs using Model Based Systems Engineering tools and techniques.Conduct trade studies and lead trade study briefings to support the selection of algorithm approaches.Managing external customers and suppliers.Lead large diverse teams to positives outcomes.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.

The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a US Person as defined by 22 C.F.R.

ยง 120.15 is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry15+ years of experience with systems engineering involving system requirements, functional decomposition and allocation, integrated design, analysis, and verification15+ years of experience in SATCOM Architectures and Design practices10+ years of experience with interface and requirement lifecycle definition10+ years of experience leading large diverse teams in design and development of SATCOM architectures Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Knowledge of Industry Digital Engineering PracticesExperience with Designing developing and deploying space and ground infrastructuresExperience with Test environments and Design and development of test equipmentExperience with development and deployment of firmware and software systemsExperience with Troubleshooting system, software and hardware issuesWorking Knowledge of SysMLExpert understanding RF Communications MethodsExcellent Communication SkillsWork within highly constrained and chaotic environments Typical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.G.

Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.G.

PhD+15 years’ related work experience, Master+18 years’ related work experience).

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
