The Space and Launch Team creates the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit.

We work with customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space.

Our teamfocuses on mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers.

Our group works all facets of engineering from concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.

Position Overview:The Associate Satellite Ground Systems Engineer will be a part of a high-performing team that are immersed in high intensity development project.

This position will apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify basic lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions for the satellite ground systems (e.G.

Command and Control, Mission Planning, Flight Dynamics Systems, etc.).

This role will have the opportunity to evaluate customer/operational needs using Digital Engineering/MBSE to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.

As the Associate Satellite Ground Systems Engineer, you will work in a dynamicteam environment and collaborate with several types of engineering disciplines to execute tasks on-quality and on-time.

Position Responsibilities:Assists, without supervision, with the validation of system-of-systems concepts or system concepts or subsystem concepts by inspection, analysis, test, and demonstration to assure that the system architecture and design concepts satisfy the intent of the customer requirements.Collects data and reports the progress and status of integration and checkout activities, and receives and evaluates results of activities, so that integration activities can proceed.

Assists in coordinating resolution of disapproved integration and checkout results by documenting and reporting reasons for disapproval to resolve anomalies.Validates system-of-systems interfaces, system interfaces or subsystem interfaces by inspection, analysis, test, and demonstration to assure that the system architecture, design and implementation satisfies the intent of the customer requirements.

May also assist, with direct supervision, in overall validation of the above.Validates system-of-systems requirements, system requirements or subsystem requirements by inspection, analysis, test, and demonstration to assure that the system architecture, design and implementation satisfies the intent of the customer requirements.

May also assist, with direct supervision, in overall validation of the above.Performs analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.Performs analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.Supports the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.Work Authorization:This position requires an active/current U.S.

Secret Security Clearance (U.S.

Citizenship Required).

(A U.S.

Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering.

ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.Experience in systems engineering and/or integration of complex systems.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Experience working with a team of engineers.Experience working in software or systems design and testing.Experience working as a Systems Engineering.Experience working with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).Experience in Agile Development.Experience working in a leadership role.2 years or more of experience in aerospace engineering.

Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.G.

Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.G.

Master).

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
