Northrop Grumman is currently seeking an Avionics Software Engineer Level 2 or 3
– C/C++/Matlab/Simulink for a remote position with ability to commute to Elkton, Maryland or Sunnyvale, California locations as required for lab work The Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facilityin Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948.

Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for NASA and a wide variety of Government and commercial customers.

The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

The position is specifically for the Avionics group at the Elkton, Maryland location that is responsible for design, development and production of real time embedded systems that provide control authority for solid rocket motor propulsion along with simulation models for avionics packages.

Coordinates with members of multi-functional teams to develop innovative solutions for production test systems, ground support equipment and flight hardware.

This position can be filled at either the Software Engineer Level 2 or Principal Software Engineer level 3, depending on years of experience and qualifications.

Basic Qualifications Software Engineer Level 2: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Software development, Electrical Engineering (with a controls specialization), or Controls Engineering (or similar degree / experience) from an accredited college with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience; or a Master’s degree and 0 years.

Strong skillsets in programming in C / C++ and/or Strong experience with Matlab and Simulink modeling and programming.

Defines development testplans and methods to ensure a robust design is achieved and validates the design against customer, internal and regulatory / government requirements.

Has stronganalytical skills and the ability organize/prioritize job assignments andtasks.

Is ableto work independently as well as in a team environment.

Comfortable in a fast paced, rapidly changing, short turn-around environment.

Is able to communicate clearly and effectively to cross-functional team members.

Has strong writing skills and is proficient at documenting design and analysisreports as well as test reports.

Experience with the use of various FPGAs and the development of Real Time multi-threaded code withinthe corresponding IDE.

Experienceworking in a cross functional environment(mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, systems engineering, test engineering, production engineering, etc.) to translate customer requirements and functional block diagrams into realized control models.

Review and update control systemrequirements to meet system level performance objectives.

Conduct tradestudies and identify and present alternate design options.

Experience with Systems Engineering principles Experience with following standards: NPR7150.2, DO-178C, DO-254, CMMI.

Knowledge of Open System Architecture (OSA) and Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) This position falls under a Federal Explosives License issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for this location.

Candidates hired into this role will be required to complete and submit an Employee Possessor Questionnaire to ATF for approval to be a possessor Salary Range: $78,600.00
– $118,000.00Salary Range 2: $96,900.00
– $145,300.00 Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to basepay.
