Johnny Was is a privately-held business with an ownership group comprised of the original founders, management, and Endeavour Capital, a private investment firm with a nearly 30-year history of long-term value creation and stewardship.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Apparel Product Developer will work closely with the Director of Product Development, Design, Technical Design and Production to develop high quality performance apparel at the best prices in the market.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Aims to create a partnership by effectively managing up to the Director of Product Development, through their daily touch base communication.
- Creates and maintains daily the seasonal product development tracker. This to be used at the weekly CFT meetings, and will provide the status on all styles and materials
- Creates and maintains the seasonal lab dip and print trackers
- Helps to drive the seasonal development of product and material from concept to the on-time commercialization of product.
- Helps to prepare the agenda for the weekly calendar meetings. Can speak at the meeting to his/her specific area of responsibility
- Throughout the season, and as an on-going goal, provides design with raw material options which are in keeping with our costing and brand integrity
- Partner with Design and Technical Design to ensure that tech pack release dates are timely, and the information is accurate. This status is communicated at the weekly CFT meetings
- Attends all fittings
- In collaboration with the Director, works closely with Design and Technical Design on their request for construction changes and samples and if these requests will impact the on-time production delivery and approved costing
- Communication with factories and suppliers should be effective and timely
- Communicates with factories on the status due dates of samples from 1st proto through PP
- Follows up with all factories for fabric and material spec sheets and up to date cost sheets
- Maintains all information in PLM as identified
- Demonstrates a passion for the business and champions the company values
- Expected to “put in the time” during peak work periods as needed
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- 5-7 years’ experience in apparel Product Development with global companies
- Must possess excellent communication, organizational, planning and leadership skills
- Experienced with, and have the ability to manage communication with multiple
- global vendors and suppliers
- Working knowledge of fit, fabric, garment construction trims and their applications
- Ability to pivot, adapt, deliver and maintain respectability and composure under pressure
- Fluent in Microsoft and Office Suite
- International travel experience
- Able to analysis and negotiate costing
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
