Embedded Software Engineer, you will be responsible for software/firmware function enhancement projects from requirements to production and commercial deployment of ABB’s industry leading Electric-Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations.

As a key member of our global EV Charging R& D Engineering team, you’ll have opportunity to learn and master our e-mobility software/firmware architecture and stacks.

With our Terra 360 EV charging system, the fastest all-in-one charger just released to the market, our goal is to increase recharging speed and improve system connectivity, without comprising charging systems and EV’s compatibility We invite you to utilize your most creative and technical skills with ABB and join our e-Mobility team Preferred work location is Irvine, CA: will consider virtual, remote-based location in Continental USThis position reports toGlobal R& D/Technology ManagerYour responsibilities Work collaboratively with business partners and customers to analyze customer requirements, define system technical specifications, and design, develop & enhance embedded software and firmware to optimize system performance and reliabilityPlan, perform and document unit testsAnalyze test results and present findings at technical design reviews to ensure design robustness, efficiency, future maintainability, and supportabilityAs SME for EV Charging Embedded Software, you’ll interact and communicate frequently with Technical Project Managers and Product Marketing ManagersProactively evaluate third party and open-source software modulesSupport software QA, help to resolve site deployment issues Your background Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering or related field is required with a minimum of 3-5 years of in embedded software engineeringMaster’s degree, and/or direct industry knowledge of electric vehicle charging, a plusMust have Programming experience in Python, C, C++, and/or JavaShould be very comfortable working in a highly collaborative, global team environmentExceptional English language speaking, reading and writing absolutely requiredVery strong analytical skills required, with an inquisitive engineering problem solving mindset requiredPreferred experience and qualifications:Software version control/configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer reviewOS coding techniques, IP protocols, and application programming interfacesMessaging bus-based software system integrationDatabase connectivity and queryWeb (server and client) programmingIoT with AWS, Google Cloud, and/or AzureHTML5 and JavaScriptAbility to travel domestically and internationally required (approximately 20%)Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US BenefitsRetirement planLife insuranceDisability insuranceMedical insuranceWellbeing programMore about usWe look forward to receiving your application.
