Our people are at the heart of our firm.Overview:We currently have an opportunity in California for a Senior Water Resources Technical Manager with interest and experience in the areas of hydrology, supply and demand forecasting and management, supply vulnerability and risk analyses, water systems modeling, integrated planning and decision support.

Our growing backlog of water resources work creates an opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects that contribute to the development of solutions addressing key California water resources issues.

Experience providing technical leadership on similar projects in California and/or the western United States is a requirement.Technical Projects Responsibilities:Directs complex engineering, planning or scientific work for clientsActs as a technical lead for water resources projects, including having substantial interaction related to all technical tasks associated with the projectPerforms technical tasks of significant difficulty and complexity, working on challenging of projectsOversees overall technical content and quality of project deliverablesPrepares and delivers technical presentations to internal and/or external clientsEnsures that current design and/or technical guidelines and standards are in place.Develops expertise in water resources planning that will improve the efficiency and quality of project deliveryProject Management Responsibilities:Provides strategic leadership internally to complete projects with diverse project teamsParticipates in project teams to provide strategic advice and technical leadershipSupports Project Manager with and/or directly manages the financial and technical delivery of projects or tasks within the agreed upon scope, schedule and budgetSupports Project Manager in lessons learned/technical debrief as part of the closeout of a projectPerforms QA/QC functions to ensure accuracy and adequacy of work productsSupports recruitment, staff development and retentionThought Leadership/Client Visibility Responsibilities:Maintains visibility internally and externally as a technical expert in water resources methods, strategies, projects and programsParticipates in local, regional, and/or national water resources-related professional and technical groupsAuthors papers, presentations or articles annuallyDisseminates technical delivery information to project managers and staff via informational emails and other appropriate channels.Identifies need for, develops, and reviews Woodard & Curran technical and project delivery tools and modelsWorks with Water Resources Practice Leader to develop practice plans and lead/participate in key initiativesBusiness Development/Marketing Responsibilities:Fosters and maintains one-on-one relationships with key external clientsProvides significant skills leading to a competitive advantage for Woodard & CurranLeads development of technical understanding and approach on project proposalsDevelops, reviews, and/or evaluates proposals for water resources practiceParticipates in interviews for new projectsContinuous Learning Responsibilities:Obtains training to maintain or stay ahead of industry practices or to expand areas of technical expertiseMaintains professional licensure and continuing education requirements, as applicableEngages in staff development and mentoringProvides feedback/guidance on staff development if requestedIdentifies technical gaps in our staff and assists in filling those gaps through both proactive recruiting and internal staff developmentProvides mentoring in area(s) of expertise to staffConducts internal learning sessions (Roundtables, Project Profiles, training, etc) as appropriateLead development of internal Woodard & Curran technical standardsSupervision Responsibilities:Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the project work of technical staff and works to meet completion date.Leads discipline coordination on large, complex water resources projectsProvides technical QC on some or all project elementsProvides overall project QA if requestedMinimum Requirements:Minimum of 12 years of professional work experience in a technical position or equivalent demonstrated competencyM.S.
