Payroll Specialist

What You Will Do

  • Execute the payroll process that includes importing, proofing, editing, processing, and transmitting all payroll wages and salaries, deductions, reimbursements, bonuses, and commissions consistent with federal and state laws
  • Review and import electronic and manual time sheets for non-union and union payroll
  • Ensure accuracy of payroll records by maintaining database with hours worked, time off, etc.
  • Extensive job costing entries on employee hours and wages
  • Prepare payroll journal entries and job costing reports on a timely basis for each pay period
  • Address issues and questions regarding payroll from employees and superiors
  • Report writing and manipulation using Excel formulas
  • Prepare reports for upper management, finance department, etc.

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience processing payroll and using report writing systems such as Paylocity, ADP or PeopleSoft for a multi-state employer.
  • Must have previous experience processing union payrolls.
  • Basic knowledge of state and federal wage and tax laws.
  • Experience using weighted average calculations for employees with multiple pay rates.
  • Extensive knowledge of Excel.
  • Proficient in Outlook and Word
