Job Summary
The Payroll Senior Manager reports, reconciles and publishes payroll and compensation data both domestically and internationally in Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines (other countries may be assigned) in accordance with best practices and as directed by the Assistant Controller and Controller.
Roles and Responsibility
- Leadership role in payroll processes, overseeing the overall payroll function, including payroll processing, reviewing and revising policies and procedures, internal controls, system reviews, and upgrades.
- Oversee the integrity of all payroll data input into payroll systems.
- Researches and interprets a variety of complex technical payroll information in response to inquiries.
- Ensure accuracy of payroll deductions such as 401(k) deferrals, health benefits and FSA deductions, reimbursements, etc.
- Ensure the accuracy of all system-generated direct deposits and checks, including the computation and calculation of special and off-cycle checks for final termination pay, etc.
- Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
- Researches, analyzes, and resolves difficult or advanced technical problems or questions presented by co-workers or employees.
- Assist senior leadership in defining organizational goals and strategic plans related to system wide payroll operations
- Lead project activities related to payroll functions bringing exceptional value to the organization through streamlining processes automation etc.
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend information technology solutions to meet strategic objectives
- Develop and oversee controls to ensure accuracy accurate reconciliation and payment of deductions and benefits
- Ensure payroll reporting and payments are compliant with company policy, generally accepted accounting principles, Federal, state and other necessary regulatory agencies and other requirements.
- Work closely with Accounting, HR and other personnel to ensure timely coordination of payroll-related inputs (merit, bonuses, benefits, etc.). Provide requested reports to Accounting, HR and other management personnel. Write reports in ADP, as needed, to provide requested information.
- Maintain payroll system and liaise with ADP to troubleshoot problems and provide solutions.
- Review quarterly payroll tax returns prepared by ADP.
- Maintains payroll guidelines and internal controls (in connection with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002) by writing and updating policies and procedures.
- Manages payroll staff to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, as well as timely response to employee inquiries and requests.
- Manage payroll year-end process and distribution of Forms W-2.
- Respond to audit and regulatory inquiries.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Other payroll related projects and needs as they arise.
Required Qualifications
Years of Experience in Related Field: 12+ years of payroll experience in a public company
Education: Bachelor s degree
Technical/Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of payroll audit procedures and payroll tax laws.
- Must be extremely detailed oriented with excellent analytical and organization skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- Self-motivated and directed.
- Well-developed problem-solving skills and ability to work independently to resolve issues.
- Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal and customer service skills and the demonstrated ability to interact with management and employees at all levels.
- Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Experience working for an international/global organization.
- ADP experience required.
- Certified Payroll Professional (cpp) certification.
