Our Breeders Choice division, which manufactures AvoDerm pet food, is looking for aMachine Operator, to work in our Irwindale, CA location.
Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Machine Operatorwill operatemachinery transforming premixes, additives, liquid mixes, etc., into work-in-process materials or finished goods.
You will be directly responsible for product quality, operator safety, line efficiencies, and equipment changeovers, documentation andfor performing essential functions according to work instructions, policies and procedures.

Please see our website at www.Central.Com for additional company information.MEASURES OF SUCCESS* Perform daily start-up procedure; verify line preparationand staging of materials.* Complete and document first article product quality inspection.* Perform critical safety items inspection and notify appropriate person(s) as necessary.* Operate machinery per guidelines and instructions.* Document downtime, adjustments, product quality inspections, and operating parameters per guidelines on Maintenance/Safety.* Perform mechanical adjustments as required.
Position requires above average mechanical ability.
Must be able to determine when equipment is operating outside of normal parameters.* Responsible for changeover of various machines to accommodate each product (i.E.
equipment disassembly, extensive replacement of change parts, timing, set-up, guarding, and reassembly) in accordance with established standards.
Changeovers are performed in a manner that must minimize cross contamination.* Performing timely and proper equipment set up is an important job element.* Keep supervisors and packaging personnel informed about the process, timing, and expected completion of work orders.* Typical duties involve the direct control and corrective action to achieve the functionality and salability of the product.
IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES * High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Post high school training desirable.
* Prior experience operating machinery (2 years) is required.* Successfully complete training and comply with Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures* Must be able to read, write, understand and converse in English.* Must have a practical working knowledge of basic arithmetic functions (multiplication, division, addition, subtraction).* Team work oriented, self-starter, responsible, and exhibits good leadership skills.
Work is conducted in a team environment, therefore, team members carry out assigned duties and the incumbent must actively participate to be effective in the job.* Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe mannerWORKING CONDITIONSWorks in manufacturing plant with varying temperature and adequate lighting levels.
This position is subject to noise from machinery.
Requires varying degrees of personal protective equipment including bump caps, ear plugs, gloves, coveralls, and safety glasses or goggles.
