Responsibilities The staff RN is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via the nursing process and other input from healthcare team members.Responsible for the all-around healthcare needs of patients who are under the care management of the faculty members on an as needed basis.

Acts as liaison between the MDs, the patients (including the family and staff members), schedulers, clinic staff and UCLA and non-UCLA physicians involved with the patients’ healthcare.

Provides up-to-date patient status reporting to the physicians and nurse supervisor by presenting laboratory or procedural results either in written or verbal form as well as conveying information from patients.

Performs clinical nursing duties that includes but not limited to assisting physicians in performing procedures in endoscopy area, GI lab, administering medications and, monitoring vital signs and medications, and provide health education, procedure instruction/information to patients and families.Qualifications BSN or MSN, requiredBLS from the ARC or AHA, requiredCurrent valid CA RN License, requiredAbility to travel between the endoscopy area/GI lab when necessary.Demonstrate knowledge in all areas of care specific to endoscopy area/GI Laboratory, including conscious sedation.

Knowledge of cardiac monitoring and ability to identify dysrhythmias.
